I have done that and I have got on the page for Dell and I downloaded what they recommended plus the 2 optional things...but nothing happened...hence me coming on here and asking for help.

As I say I have done it before but I am struggling now

When I am downloading, it is coming up as 'Dell Download Manager' - is this correct?

And if I download it and then click on it, a page comes up saying that there is nothing in the documents folder and tells me to download the drivers

This is what I am struggling with

Okay...I think I have managed to install them. Do I need to open any of the folders that have been installed to carry on?

Can anyone help with this. I'm really need to get stuff scanned and emailed and I have been trying to do it myself but I'm really struggling.

On my C drive there is a Dell Folder and in that folder there are about 6 folders that it's looks like I have downloaded. Various ones named drivers, install

Following the Dell advice on thri site for rivers for 924 it said I should get a box saying folders unzipped and I pressed OK and then it said I shoudl follow on screen instructions to install the drivers...but no on screen instructions came up and all I have in my programs is something called Dell Download Manager which I have never seen before.

All I am looking for is the Dell printer icon to be downloaded to my desktop so that I can click on and use it.

Have you tried plugging the printer in and using the generic windows drivers ?

Go back to that folder and install the following files in the following order:

    1. R148156.exe (Driver)
    2. R153714.exe (Software Application)
    3. R166243.exe (Software Patch)

Note that during driver installation, you will be asked to connect your printer (which needs to be switched on).

I have the R148156.exe folder. When I click on it, I am then given 3 more new folders named scan, WIN_XP2K and thankyoupage.bmp

I don't have any of the other .exe files.

How do I install the file that I do have? What should I be clicking on>

I'm sorry, this must be frustrating for anyone to read if it's pretty straightforward but I am clearly out of my depth here.

All help is hugely appreciated I can promise you.

Sounds like you have manually unpacked the installer rather than simply running it and letting it do everything for you, find the original file and run it again.
