    You are excused bassman!

I am surprised that a Tesco minion can call up details from your Clubcard, but maybe it just shows 'the basics' (e.g. your name and address) in case of lost clubcards? Maybe Constantine can tell us what the CS person would have been able to call up?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I would have if I knew ;) Not my area of expertise (if I have one), will find out tomorrow.

Would be very surprised if it was any more than name & address.
Who or what was I before you came in to my life
    I am not sure

Changing your mind isn't part of your SR, no. However, most retailers will exchange or refund as a gesture of goodwill.

    http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/your-rights/fs_c04.shtml#4

As stated previously, you are still covered by your SR if the product is faulty, etc, etc.
But the op stated that he merely couldn't afford the more expensive item, no mention of any fault to the less expensive, merely a change of fortune. So therefore no refund oblgation as as bassman said no statutory right involved when changing your mind.
Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.

Together we can make a difference.
  • As stated previously, they've been known to allow an R&R exchange on a more expensive item than a games console. I think it depends a lot on the individual customer's attitude, as well as the attitude of the CSA at the time. You've got less of a chance if you lie to them, though. If you're up front and honest, they are more likely to do it. After all, it's no skin off their noses. They don't make a loss out of an exchange, as they get the item back in stock.

Again...I totally agree with everything you say........but would a normal CS assistant be able to authorise this(being £200+) or would it have to go higher.........and wouldnt you think that someone higher up would "smell a rat"............maybe I'm being too sensitive in thinking that all management know about RnRers..............as although I have a very calm disposure, some of the agro I have received recently(for being "inthe know") leads me to believe that every manager will be suspicious, and if he grants the exchange, it gives the RnRers another "win"........or am I being paranoid.....

I'll agree to disagree rather than let this run on much further....

Plus you're making yourself 'known' again, aren't you? Not really the best policy. Sell the !!!!!! on ebay/amazon and buy the replacement from a (generally much cheaper) online supplier would be my advice...
I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!
  • I am far more likely to do something for you if you come to me honestly rather than try to play me.

Ok then.....mmmm..I got this phone the other day,,,,,,,,,,whereabouts are you............lol

or better still wait for an RnR......it might not be long.....

Yes I agree, but changing your mind surely isnt part of Statutory Rghts..........

if it is, can i swap some of my beef for some lamb.......lol

    better add.....only joking!!!

I realise that now, im just looking at the back of the receipt which states

'if you change your mind about your purchase please retain your receipt and return it to the store with the product as sold within 28 days'

The machine and the game are still sealed and unopened
    Every little helps....

I don't think it surprises anyone but the most hardcore of Tesco apologists. The type/amount of information they collect I wouldn't be surprised if the cleaners even had access to it. ;s

Now, if you had posted information proving that tesco employees DIDN'T have access I would have been shocked. :>

Yes....as said by more qualified RnRers than me....Without the receipt, or with a "refunded" receipt, it all depends on the personality or mood of the people you approach

    Pretty much like ringing HO..........

Ive got one as well if you have any luck.....
