A couple of hours ago I had one puff
My son was driving me crazy and before I knew what I was doing i'd lit it  Feeling so stupid!
But one BIG positive!!...It made me feel awful! So sick, and dizzy, I couldn't stand up, and that was only one puff!0 -
Well after posting on here a few days ago, I have read my Allen Carr Book Twice to make sure it had sunk in. Instead of waiting until 1st Jan as planned, I stopped yesterday morning. The fags were actually making me feel sick because I was "consciously" smoking.
I am not sure I can agree with you squirrel tufty that the nicotine withdrawel is pleasureable, but I can understand that is WHAT it is and I don't actually want a cigarette.
I am feeling really positive about this. My main withdrawel symptom today seems to be being sooooo tired, but hey, so what its only tiredness.!! I am a non smoker!!!!0 -
Well done duncans mum!!!I will be joining the ranks soon!!
I have read somewhere it is better to say `i dont smoke` rather than i am a non smoker, has anyone else heard this?
And if so why is this better? if it is?Proud to be DEBT FREE AT LAST0 -

It'll take some time for you to break that aspect of the habit. And hey, at least you only took one puff rather than saying "Oh well, I might as well finish it."0 -

Your post made me laugh, I only passed my test a few weeks ago, i'm still waiting for the gear changes to become subconscious :rotfl:0 -
Well done duncans-mum
I did the same, wasn't going to stop til 1st Jan, put Allen Carr cd rom on, and stopped on Boxing day!

Don't give up 'giving up' all!
I still have the urge to have a fag. Take a few deep breaths and think - I don't want to stink of nicotine. The feeling soon passes believe me.
'Tis not easy to stop. This is my umpteenth time of quiting. Determined this time.
The week before I quit I didn't allow myself to smoke inside the house - stood outside the back door. Put 12 fag ends into a small screwtop jar. (Still got it on my kitchen windowledge - if I get a real urge, unscrew the top and have a whiff - it stinks).
Also the week before I quit, I washed everything - curtains ,clothes etc.
Bought
smelly candles, incense sticks and plug in fresheners. Also rooted out all freebie perfume samples as well as treating myself to my fav perfume (courtesy of Pigsback Boots vouchers!)
Best of all, there's money in my purse!!!!
(No, maybe best of all should be- I can take deep breaths without coughing!)
Good luck to all, and hope you and I have a fag free 2007:grouphug: A smile, a 'please' and a 'thank you' cost nothing0 -
Hello everyone. Not been around for a while, Christmas is very busy. I see we have some new people here, congratulations on stopping smoking, or good luck if you are going to do it soon. I used the Alan Carr book and it has been very easy for me, although I have had the odd urge, especially over Christmas with the gang now smoking in the Utility room!!
Washed everything washable after the visitors went home and it is smelling much better in here again now.
I am also £500 better off because of it, as of today.
The dreams where I am smoking and SOOOOOOOOOOOO annoyed with myself are subsiding, my subconscious must be getting used to the idea!!

Great enthusiasm & encouragement here.
I stopped for just under 8 weeks (53 days) but relapsed so, have been back on the roll-ups with filters for the last month (32 days). I don't smoke a lot so monetary it's only a few pounds a week.
I used the 'Harry's Quit Counter' to keep track from here...
http://whyquit.com/whyquit/LinksDMeters.html
I also read loads on the 'Why Quit?' site, some of which (case studies etc.) absolutely horrified me!
I went cold turkey last time & shall do the same this time... I'm aiming to hit 2007 'nicotine free' so to enable that, no more cigs after midnight tonight to be 72 hours 'clean' come the bells.
Good Luck everyone!
Well.... done it, big smiles here! 72 hours smoke-free come midnight.
No withdrawal symptoms really at all this time, expected same as last (first) time, so very pleasant surprise.
Happy New Year all!0
