Quit date: 03/09/2006 ----> £1,000s not spent on tobacco(21/03/2010).:D0 -
Tyranny, keep up the good work. It's been just shy of 3 months for me and admittedly it was hard at first but after 3-4 days it did get easier. :j My main motivation was health as I want to lose a couple of pounds (OK OK more like 2st), and the fact that the mountain bike I had bought 6 months beforehand had seen VERY little use.0

Hiya everyone.
I intend to quit on the 2nd jan, and i am cutting down the amount i smoke this week, i normally smoke 20-25 a day, i hope to get this down to 10-15 before quit date.
I have tried so many times in the past and failed, i have used the patches, gum and zioban tablets all to no avail, but i think this was because i didnt really want to quit at these point. But now i do, i have been working hard clearing our debts this year and want the fag money to throw at the debts instead of just smoking it away.
Also my kids and dh want me to stop but they think i wont do it, so i am determind to do it this time, im not even telling them i am, i will just do it!!
Good luck everyone and well done all of you who have stopped already!!Proud to be DEBT FREE AT LAST0 -
Good luck to everyone who has named new year as their give up date (or is already a few days into being ciggie liberation). Stopped counting the days since i quit again (think it's been about 5 weeks now).
And if I can just plug the Allen Carr book again...READ IT!!!0 -
We are going away tomorrow, but want to give up on the 3rd january, as will be in hospital then having my tooth out and will be knocked out so will be a good oppurtunity, and the kids go back to school the following day.0

Hiya!
Great enthusiasm & encouragement here.
I stopped for just under 8 weeks (53 days) but relapsed so, have been back on the roll-ups with filters for the last month (32 days). I don't smoke a lot so monetary it's only a few pounds a week.
I used the 'Harry's Quit Counter' to keep track from here...

I also read loads on the 'Why Quit?' site, some of which (case studies etc.) absolutely horrified me!
I went cold turkey last time & shall do the same this time... I'm aiming to hit 2007 'nicotine free' so to enable that, no more cigs after midnight tonight to be 72 hours 'clean' come the bells.
Good Luck everyone!0 -
The "bells" is something i am severely dreading, if i had it my own way i would hide in my bed from 8pm. Every year i get dragged to a neighbouring village for a party in the hall. The only escape that i would get from running around after the kids (while OH gets merrily !!!!ed) would be when i went out for a fag :eek:Nicotine Free as of 17th December 06 :j0

I think my body knows im about to try and give up the fags, iv never ever coughed the way i have this morning!!!
I am so determind this time, todays jobs on my countdown are to make a lable for my jar that i will be putting money in that i wont be spending once iv stopped.
Throw all lighter bar one away, make myself smoke outside back door, hopefully this will cut me down alot in next few day in lead up to quit date.
Hope you are all doing well, tyranny stick at it you are doing so well, i hope i get as far as you have!!Proud to be DEBT FREE AT LAST0
