it takes up to 5 working days to arrive when you tax online, not always 5 working days

in any case if you do it online your car will be taxed and you are allowed to drive it. you do not have to wait for the disc to arrive vefore driving

shame they can't give you a pdf of the insurance document now that you can insure with a copy of the certificate, that's what I have done when I taxed my car a few weeks ago as I couldn't find the original , also if you a fax machine they can fax it to you

Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

No you can't, that only applies to renewing your Tax disc which you have to do before the existing one expires and not for newly bought cars.

My Insurance company said they can fax it but unfortunately I don't have a fax machine but i'm popping into my PO tomorrow to ask them if they will except a fax from them. If they can then i'll get them to do it whilst i'm in the PO. I'm hoping though that my policy comes tomorrow. The Insurance company said they sent it out today so i'm hoping it will be here by Friday at least.

    I appreciate everyones imput

you cannot tax a car online that you have just bought. The tax disc would go to the old owner as their address would still be the one registered at DVLA

Where did you buy the car? Audi offer a 7 day insurance cover for free and I believe others do that too.

Who is your insurer? Most would e mail or fax a cover note to you / dealer.

Some insurers e.g. eCar, give you instant access to the cover note on line which you can print off.

OP, take out a days insurance online, can be done for a tenner, print off the cover note and take this to the Post Office.

I insured with London Victoria. They told me they can't fax or email a cover note but have sent the Certificate first class today. I told them most give a cover note straight away but these do not.

I did check but you need to have had a license for over a year.
