Glad to see you've finaly seen the light GD

I am always willing to change my mind in the light of evidence.
But we will still have a difference of opinion, I guess, over some of the more personal posts with Ben in the past.
But unlike MJ, I would prefer to deal with a reseller who honours their agreement without the need to threaten them with court or actually follow that through.
It's not my life's work. The extra hassle to save a few quid just isn't worth it to me, I value my time more.0 -
Ah... who said I don't prefer to deal with a reseller who honours their agreement? CPW always honours mine with them - just sometimes they have to do it kicking and screaming. With few current alternatives and none as likely to still be around to sue as and when required I'll sip with the devil - who at least I know! I would add that cpw used to be brilliant and basically honest - and you never know when the saint will turn into the sinner...0

Let me borrow your last post and see if I can make it clearer. You wrotemobilejunkie wrote: »........................... if you know what you're doing, do it, can prove it and force them to pay should they require it cashback isn't a problem. The problems occur when people don't really know what they're doing, haven't followed the groundrules and allow this company to try it on. SO - IF you do you're one of the few who really do their homework, know what you're doing and cover yourself every step of the way it should be ok. If you're one of the many who think all you have to do is follow what they say and submit your claims in time think agian; you may well have problems as many have and are still finding.
So, in that, you say that the "few" do their homework and the "many" don't. But buying from a high street name as big as the CPW company should not involve the average person in having to put up with dirty tricks. I don't think we have a dispute there.
Now you have experience over many years and, as you write, they see your name and don't take you on. But the OP and many are not in that position and, again because they are not in this for the battle or potential battle, expect a higher standard of honesty and business ethics than they ultimately receive.
But,it's us you are talking to now. Don't you get just a little bit of kudos/pleasure from your encounters with them in the past and the fact that they quake a bit when they know it's you???0 -
I have run the full range of emotions with them in my time; I have been impressed, sung their praises (honest!), become very angry, treated them with reverence and contempt (not at the same time) and now look upon them as they are - though this can and does change over time as they change. I get pleasure from ensuring that I always get my money and also ensuring that the few people I look after avoid the possible traps and oversights and get all their money as well.
As to the rest; anyone expecting to get a free or nearly free deal which (in a shop) would cost hundreds of pounds more - often from the same company (in this particular case, CPW) should indeed be suspicious and pause for thought. Obviously if everyone got their money, no-one would - because the company would go bust (as happened with many minnows a while back because people (like me and many others) helped educate the unwary and assist them when things went wrong - though also the dealers were, I believe, stuffed by the networks at that time). I didn't rush into my first such deal and it's only since I am now extremely exerienced with them (and cpw in its guises) that I am so confident in my dealings with them. When I took out my first deal it was actually with E2Save; I'd read feedback for months and months (make that a year or more) on them and others. I knew there had to be a risk. At the time cpw were excellent and the risk was worthwhile to me; I made certain I knew exactly what i was doing beforehand so that I would eliminate all or most of the things which could thwart me.
It's quite simple; a large chunk of people obviously won't get what they expect - for a variety of reasons, many of which are their own fault! The question is really therefore whether someone entering into a deal is prepared to put the time and effort into it and accept the risks involved. Or should they expect a "free" lunch" merely because it's a high street name? Today, virtually ALL organisations rely on marketing which offers the moon but is full of smallprint - which they know most people won't bother to read.
In summary, caveat emptor will always apply, whoever and wherever you deal with; free lunches are possible if you do it right. As many appear to testify on here, usually the dealer does pay without problems. The part I do agree with is that they should have the right to expect cpw to pay provided they do it right - and are let down when they choose not to pay a valid claim and turn deaf ears to any protest.0 -

OK so good news everyone i got the phone!!!
Not before i went on holiday though.
So when i eventually got throught to mobiles, I spoke to a lovely gent in the credit referrals dept (who it turns out sold me my last phone 18 months ago.... very bizarre coincidence, but nice all the same!)
i explained the situation to him. Told him that three would be happy to accept me providing payment was by DD, which is what i wanted anyway, plus i was a previous customer with three and was v happy with them before. he put comments on the system and resubmitted the order with the same number so that the original auto cashback would be recognised. Obviously he couldn't give any guarantees but this was safer than a new app being submitted.
He called back shortly after saying that was successful and recommended me calling back up when i returned from hols to get the phone sent out (i.e. avoid paying on contract for a phone sitting in a post office while i was away)
Lovely gent must have made a note to remind me because he called the day after i got back from hols and processed the rest of the order. Phone arrived day after....Awesome!!!
very happy with service from mobilephones.co.uk. Although would prefer not to have been declined in first place as was really quite inconvenient calling back and forth to them and three to sort out.
Good luck anyone in similar situation.0 -

I've been with 3 for some time on contract and personally have found them ok. Anyway, tonight I got a call from 3 about an offer for a mini laptop. I said yes sounds good at £17.50 a month, then he said I'll have to do a credit check!
This seems a bit odd to me if you're a contract customer already, anyway said yes go a head.
I also had to give my card details for them to take £1.95 and this also is for ID and part of the check.
I was then shocked to find it was declined:eek: I know for a fact my credit files are ok, I subscribe to Credit Expert. The only thing I'm thinking is my credit card details, you see my cards first 4 digits 5299 are the same as an Marks and Spencer's credit card! Infact the adviser said to me; is this an M&S card?
So is there a glitch in their system that couldn't recognise my card?
Anyway, this fella said he'd ring credit referrals and get back to me, 10 mins later he said they'd put it through!!!
The laptop comes next week, I may have to write to them in Glasgow yet, hate a mystery.......................0
