Probably thinking there are too many temptations for women these days. Get 'em tied down by the apronstrings and the kitchen sink.....
You know, I've just had another thought - a woman always knows a child is hers, a man can't be so sure. Maybe best not to waste too much time / leave anything to chance.0 -

Nope, he's just doubting the accuracy of the £5,037.48 per year figure....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

One reason why in Judaism, religion is matrilineal (-:

I think there's an excess of cynicism on this thread, to a large extent.
Of course there are bad relationships. !!!!!! happens. But a good relationship adds a lot, just as a bad one is far worse than being on your own.
OH and I have lived together for nearly 13 years. The world's a brighter place for me because he's in it. When something good happens, he's the first I want to share it with. When something bad occurs, he's the first I want to tell. I'm a better person because of him....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
NDG, thanks for saying that
My life was certainly brighter when he was in it. In fact I'm a little tired of the clouds now... my campervan broke down 100 miles from home last week and the RAC man kept asking me who I was going to call (he could only tow me 10 miles). I had no-one! How sad is that?
Most of my 27 years I've been proud of my fierce independence. Now I wonder if it'll ever endMortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -
I'd far rather be on my own than in a bad relationship.
I'd far rather be on my own that in an OK relationship, too.
Nothing wrong with independence. I'm all in favour....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
It's cats for me .... after a lifetime of people saying there's somebody out there for everybody, that you'll meet somebody when you're not looking ... well, I've not been looking and nobody knocked on my door.
So it's cats.... except maybe not, there's a thread I was reading yesterday about the cost of cats... one loony spends £125/month on hers!!!!
So, it's a house where neighbours have cats... so I can 'borrow' them on demand.

I like cats too - can't see how they can possibly cost £125 a month, though. They need a few tins of cat food and yearly jabs at the vets, that's your lot. Otherwise, they pretty much look after themselves. (that's for your standard moggy. Different if you have some daft pedigree that can't lift a finger for itself)...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

Have you thought of knocking on someone's door, so to speak? Rather than just waiting?
(But preferably after looking first...?)
I actually think it's much easier for women to make the first move - men are far less likely to be cruel I think than women can be - they are more likely to take it as a compliment. I think it must be hard for men, being 'expected' to make the first move all the time.0 -
