I have got an MBNA card with 9 months left of O% BT and I have £8,500 credit limit. I don't have any balance on this card nor any debts to pay off from other accounts. So if I want to make this card work for me what is the best way to go about using 'their' £8,500 to my advantage. I have an ISA, online savings accounts with LloydsTSB and a current account. I think I still have an Egg green card up and running (can't remember if I cancelled that one). So any information would be appreciated. Thank you.

  • wonder if you could point me in the right direction.

I travel a lot for business and as such use a card across Europe. Whilst we are provided with a card by work, we derive no benefit from using it and as such most people use their own. Especially as the company pay the expenses to the individual who then pays the Card from their own bank account

I noticed on my MBNA issued Virgin Amex card that they convert Forex spend into dollars before then converting again into sterling, no doubt a process which will work heavily in their favour.

    I need a card that
    1. Will allow me to spend across Europe without penalising it through hidden transaction charges
    2. Do not slap a charge on your account if you miss the payment by a day or two (Being abroad a lot of the time, things can get overlooked)
    3. Preferably allows me to earn either cash or rewards for the spend

I understand that the Post Office card is best from a personal spend point of view, but doesnt benefit me

  • MBNA don't have a £50 fee for BT's. I had to pay £150, and that was including the reduction they gave me. You have to pay what would be the full fee in your firs payment. So my first payment will be £205.

    Hello all,
haven't posted for a while, but you might have noticed the stock market wobble & that my CCT shares dropped to 125 at one point

However, being an investor & not a speculator ;) I hung fire & kept my faith, & the good news is that now the share price is 170 & it should probably be over 200 by the end of April when the results are announced for H1.

That makes my investment from my 0% offer now worth 15100 * £1.70 = £25,670 or a profit of 150% on the original £10K borrowed in about 6 months:rotfl:

    :)Happy Days!:)

    Hello,
Well I've just got back from a lovely short break in Geneva & I was pleasantly surprised that CCT had gone up a bit more.

    They're now at 180, so that 15100 * £1.80 = £27,180 from MBNA's very kind £10K at 0% loan.

Not far now & I'll have tripled it :)

    :)HD!:)

Just seen this post for the first time and what a great result !!

Congrats for getting in at the right time. Do you have a price in mind for selling and would you sell if they start to fall again?
