    Welcome to the board.

I am so impressed with your organised approach to things.
I only wish that I had started at such an early age with such a responsible attitude to my finances.

Once you start on the road to mortgage freedom, it can be infectious, but remember to get the balance right too and have some fun along the way.

Well done on your progress so far, and I will keep popping in. :)

    Hi Danny

    Ohhhh, you are organised :)
Belated congratulatiosn on your engagement :D

I said in one of my previous posts that I have used the £5100 ISA allowance and I know that I also have the missus' allowance I could use, but as shes not great with the money thing I feel safer knowing that the money is under control and also if i need to change things I can phone up as and when without needing her to pass the phone over etc!

I set up an ISA for my DH, got him to sign the paperwork and then didn't let him have the passwords to access it! :rotfl:An internet based one too so we didn't have to deal with it by phone or branch.

I sound a bit mean don't I? :p He now has full acess to it as he's got better with savings.

Living in Cornwall sounds liek a great action plan :)

Right day 2 of my diary and I'm determined to get all the info needed into my thread so I can see for myself exactly what I'm aiming to achieve because up to now its just been random figures i've thought up in my head :wall:. I also need to set myself weekly tasks I think like I've seen others do on their threads!:T
Hello Uzubairu, Radish & Sml thanks for popping in! I'm going to try and keep up with as many threads as I can to see how everyone else is getting on and for more inspiration!

So here are a few little ideas that I'm gunna start doing to save a few pence here and there.
    1) Every night before bed turn every socket off including sky box/TV & Computer & Microwave/Kettle & also before going to work. Also remembering turning lights off when leaving a room
    2) Be much quicker in the shower! At the moment I spend way too much time standing in the shower when really I should be jumping in and out - made much worse by the fact that I have a combi boiler which is a pretty inefficient way of heating hot water! Plus by spending less time in the shower I have more time to read peoples MFW diaries!
    3) Start making an inventory of what food is in the house & working through with the missus meals we can make from it aswell as making carefully thought out shopping lists before we go Asda.:D
    4) Get the mrs to start batch cooking and freezing it. :p
    5) Forage for fruits - we have a nature reserve nearby and they usually have loads of blackberrys in the hedges, we can make blackberry crumble or something (when i say 'we' I actually mean OH as i can barely make Cakes from the cake making kits where you just add water & butter!) :rotfl:

I may add to this list but so far thats all I can think of. If anyone else has got any little changes that I could make please let me know!

So as well as trying to save extra pennies I need to push myself into making some extra too.
1)I do surveys on Crowdology & Pinecone (when they come through) because they are quite quick and pay well.
    2) I have accounts on Valued Opinions too and probably have a few quid on there left over, but I got sick of doing the first few pages of a survey only to get screened out over and over again... but I will get back to doing them!
    3) I also had one with One Poll but it seemed to be taking forever to add up so I stopped a few months ago, however I will start that up again!
    4) I will do some more research into the 'daily clicks' I keep seeing talked about on some of the forums (don't have a clue what they are at the mo!)
    5) I had signed up to a few mystery shopping sites ages ago but chickened out of doing any, I will look at it again and go for it! (which sites have people found the best?)

Again I may add to this as I think of more ideas and I will keep up to date of how much I have earnt every so often!
But if anyone can think of other ways to make a bit extrA please let me know! :money:

    Hi Danny

Good luck with your MFW journey. You sound very organised and determined. I'm sure you'll do it.

Can I ask about the combi boiler? Why are they so inefficient? I thought that's what was trendy because they were so efficient. Obviously I know nothing about plumbing lol. Oh and have you joined imeasure? Its a site where you log your electricity and gas usage every week. Makes you think about that sort of thing. Do you have low energy light bulbs, only boil enough water for one or two cups of tea etc?

    SSL xx

    Hi again Danny,

I am very impressed at your savings. Good for you.

I find the task lists helpful as they give me a feeling of making progress. MFW is such a long haul journey that I think breaking it down is helpful.
