Engine hoist would do the trick....we live in the middle of nowhere so finding one to hire may be a problem......I could send John out knocking on Farmers doors to see if they have one....at times like this I wish he had friends....
I have friends....they are good for borrowing handbags from, but to the best of my knowledge none of them have an engine hoist :rotfl:0 -
storm in a tea-cup just chuck it out the bloody van like i did. theyre not easy to break!0

paper scissors rock...van, pavement, safe0

Use a decent sack truck and scaffold planks for ramps, I have used a simmillar method for loading/unloading forklift batteries which probably weigh more than your safe0

You big girl lol 80kg isn't that heavy. I'm not exactly a strong person but I can lift 80kg's easily enough. Ok not easily but not impossibly either. The main cube of a bathroom suite from B&Q weighs 80kg and is roughly the same shape as a safe I think and I used to be able to lift those from the floor to a flatbed trolley and back down again easily enough, it's all about technique.
Slide it to the van doors, pump up trolley as high as it goes and position it in front of the safe. Stand with legs either side of trolley facing the van and pull the safe towards you till its rocking on the edge (still theres no effort involved in holding it in the van so its perfectly safe). put your knees under the edge of the safe and pull it towards you taking the weight on your knees. Take a step backwards and lower the save the 12 inches required to the trolley. You could even get your wife to hold the trolley if needs be to stop it rolling. It really is an easy job.
Alternatively pop across the road to the police station and ask nicely if anyone could give you a hand, i'm sure they'll oblige.0 -
Hi,
Slide it to the van doors, pump up trolley as high as it goes and position it in front of the safe.
You could put some wooden battons across the prongs to get the level just above the van floor.
Alternatively pop across the to the police station and ask nicely if anyone could give you a hand, i'm sure they'll oblige.
Send your wee wifie, the boys in blue will be happy do their macho bit.
If you need an anchor, I know a somebody that'll do it for couple bottles of beer.
