All but one of my items were cancelled out of 13 so that wasn't bad but I got an email saying it was now out of stock and to confirm I wouldn't be charged for this but like others they have taken the money from my account for it, the order it was in was for £23 but when they cancelled the shirt they should have only taken £8 but according to my account they have taken the full £23 and when I called them they said they hadn't taken it and when I told her I could see if was out of my account she said it would go back into my account in a day or 2 and if I doesn't then I need to send them a copy of my bank statement showing that they have taken it as there system says they haven't.. What a cheek they have there customer service over the phone is shocking and the girl I was speaking to was getting all flustered and kept stuttering.

Terrible system. Soon, when everyone shops like this M&S will have half their stock tied up in people's baskets for days.

Or maybe people will checkout each item separately - then M&S will have hundreds of single item orders to process!

They really need to get into the 21st century - ie cut their dated adverts and spend the money on a workable online site.

putting something in your basket has no effect on stock levels...

    baskets are for the customer....

for 99% of online customers their system is perfectly adequate...

only a small minority have problems due to stock levels during a sale, a timne at which we should expect stock problems!

Oh, please...............read all the posts here and elsewhere. It's not a small minority having problems, but a lot of people.

Their system is certainly not adequate, or you wouldn't get all the complaints - there's no other online retailer getting this sort of level of complaints about goods being cancelled several days after the order's been put in.

Disagree. I have used M&S three times during the sale and I have had problems.

Fortunately for me, despite receiving an email this morning to saying that there was a delay until 8th August, my goods actually turned up today! Not only are there problems with stock but the whole chain is serious poor!! I made a phone call today chasing my order when it was actually in a van en-route to my house! No excuses for not knowing that my order had actually been despatched and no excusing for emailing me saying that there was a delay when there wasn't!

It might be a lot of people, but it's still a small minority compared to the huge number of online orders and customers
