I know parents who really over state the case for their carees and others who understate it. Who is to say someone is up all night, or can or cannot cook a meal, my son would say he could cook a meal because he would like to believe he could, he has LD's but someone craftier than him who could cook a three course meal will say they can't. Course I'm saying all this with no better idea to tackle the situation, wouldn't want these people living in my house no matter we are genuine:D0 -
Well of course they will be aware of that but mental health issues are surely amongst the easiest to claim fraudulenty and the most difficult to prove genuinely, admittedly LD's will be more evident but how to decide how much care is needed.

It is this sort of situation where people state they have all manner of high care needs but they have no care provided that will be looked at.
How can you get money by stating that you need hours of night time care for instance but you live alone and never get that care ? What purpose does the money serve if it isn't used to buy the required care?0 -

Surely you would have to be mad to claim DLA for psychiatric issues
Sun Newspaper today stated that 40% of all claims were fraudent, and that 40% of claims were dropped as soon as people were required to attend a panel.
Public Opinion is definitely not on the side of DLA claimants, and the Sun newspaper is endeavouring to ensure that this situation gets worse. Not good news, whilst I agree that those claiming DLA fraudently should be neutered with a couple of heavy bricks, we cannot have a situation where those in need of assistance from society are victimised.
On the plus side, most people who actually buy the sun newspaper can't read and buy it purely for the pictures or to find out what time coronation street or eastenders is on :rotfl:0 -

Because of course, The Sun is always correct and doesn't write unbiased rubbish.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

I'm not convinced that a medical will sort it out there will be genuine cases slip through these medicals for sure and as I said the lead swingers will be one step ahead.
How will a medical prove the care needs of people with mental health problems or learning difficulties?
well alot of people dont even know what dyslexia or dyspraxia including a few Gp's i have spoke to about it and dyselxia is comman really so what chance have people with the harder to cope dyspraxia, adhd etc have needs wise0 -

My very ancient Astra (approx 17 years old, coming up for 18 years), cost me the grand total of £200..I would have heart failure if it cost more than £500 over the year!
She cost me £461 to buy 3 years ago now and the total repair bill in that time still wouldn't exceed £1k.
I just also want to point out (ok maybe pointing out the bleeding obvious here), that not all those receiving DLA, receive high rate mobility leading to the option of having a mobility vehicle. My youngest receives high rate care but low rate mobility, so no option for a car (and correctly so too, he may have some difficulty walking, mentally and physically but not enough to warrant HRM in my opinion). We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Should try saying Ehlers Danlos syndrome to them...the blank looks are amazing!:rotfl:
I used to have to tell doctors in the emergency room what treatment to give my now ex husband when he was in addisonian crisis....they would waste loads of time looking it up in their medical books and then realise I was correct. We made it! The care just has to be reasonable - you don't actually need to be receiving it. Many people find that they can do something; but it can takethem a few hours to do. if they have someone to help them, it would take half of that time.Sealed pot challenge #232. under the same rules that are in place now do you think your sons may recive it at a later date when over 16,
what worrys me is people not reciving HRM when it would help with there health and to support there needs and if the critreia is set even higher they may lose out and because worse not better because that wasnt put in place at the right time ,
my friend is blind he will soon be able to get HRM due to his blindness would this be taken away after all the fight thats happened over this i hope not because before i was ill it was me that used to take him around the shops in and out of taxis when a car for him would have helped him when the weather was so bad i had to do a shop for him as he couldnt get out of the house, is that going to be the same for others with the cuts i hope not0
