disabled and parents parking

In fact, P&C parking is a supermarket invention designed solely to capture, from other supermarkets, the largest possible share of their biggest demographic - women with small children. It's not altruism - it's business.
Exactly,as I said above. It's a marketing gimmick, just like loyalty cards or BOGOFs.What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -

I then look over to the disabled bays all lined up nice and empty
The next time this happens, why not pop over to the person who's nabbed the last P&C spot, knock on the window and ask them why they're choosing to park in 'your' spot instead of 'their' spot?
It might take you a while to canvass opinion of all the disabled people who take your space (it sounds like it's happening a lot....) but at least you'll a) have some answers and b) be able to express your frustration directly to the people who are causing it.
I hate it when disabled people or parents with children park in my bays. I look over and there are always free disabled or P&C spaces available...! Selfish gits.

P&C parking is not a gimmick, trisontana. It's a right. Squeezing a couple of kids out gives you special status, you know.
Sorry, I sound like a right old bag! I love kids and I get the wider bays idea. But come on guys! It's a disabled person parking somewhere that causes you, at most, a bit of inconvenience. It's not a contravention of your basic human rights!"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
atomicsheep wrote: »Same would go for me- If no parent and child spots are free - i wouldnt hesitate in using a disbaled bay so i have room to the kids out without denting anyones car.
You are one very sick individual that you would make a disabled person suffer for the sake of your precious ones...atomicsheep wrote: »Exaclty what i was thinking. Alot of the posters here seem to think i want the bay right outside the door. I never once said that. Its something they are clinging onto as there 'counter-moan' as such.
So if the P and C spaces are full park the other end of the car park over 2 bays if you really do need the space rather than taking a space desperately needed by a disabled person...Excercise might make you more grateful for being fit and healthy....atomicsheep wrote: »Yes so i can use them if i wish then!!
courtesy, exalty. not much shown if you are disabled and have the option of a dsiabled bay but take the last P&C is it??
You are very lucky, when i had a blue badge there was never enough disabled spaces free and of all the car parks i have been in there hasn't been a plethra of spaces free for disabled people so i find it very surprising that your's are always free...0 -

It always decends into some P&C vs disabled debate but thats not what its about.
The people that use them do so because they dont see why parents should get wider spaces. I dont think many disabled people use them, and there is no way you could comment on someone with a disability who does.
It's old people with no disability, middle aged couples who dont want their daewoo (chevy) scratched. People that think more of their car than allow someone who chose to have children a little assistance to get their cherubs straight onto a pathway, people in the huff because parents have an area designated for them when they bring their kids shopping.
Disabled spots and P&C are completely different. They shouldnt even be in the same thread.0 -

Have you seen how tight some normal spots are to get out of, so no not every slot is a parent and child spot . Thats why they have designated one silly
I think they should do away with P&C spaces, that way...normal spaces would be wider, hence no issues :cool:0 -
The other option is of course to park over two spaces, hopefully giving yourself plenty of room.0

atomicsheep wrote: »well am i not entitled to use the P&C spot if i have a young CHILD and want to park in the parent and CHILD spot??
I didnt know about disabled spots having no legal standing though so thanks for that. I know where i'm parking then when P&C are full!
You see...even I have more consideration than you do...I would never park in a disabled space regardless of whether there was a fine or not.
I just don't regard P&C spaces as a real need.....like I said earlier, if P&C spaces didn't exist all 'standard' spaces would be a little wider

Personally I doubt that.0 -
