    Oh Little Red Hen,

    It is agonising and I think you are doing the right thing in watching day by day and assessing - so cheery to think of her purring (if it is genuine contentment - I never knew they would purr if stressed?) and watching the world go by. Cats are pleasure seekers after all. I hope that when the time comes you will be at peace with your decision.

    My sweet dog Xena died suddenly on Friday - she had emergency treatment and I had to decide not to wake her up from the anaesthetic as she would not have survived. In a sense there was no decision to make but my heart is breaking. I would like to send the biggest of virtual hugs to all those struggling to overcome the loss of beloved creatures and struggling to reach decisions on their care.

    I am nursing her sister now - that is tough too as she has had spinal surgery. I had thought I would never go down that route but it is one more example in my life of how the decisions you think you will make are entirely different to the ones you end up making when it comes to crunch time!

    Sorry - didn't mean to talk so much about me!

    think of you shelley - beautiful cat - so sad - hope all the loved animals are having lots of fun over the rainbow - hugs to all who have lost a pet

    also thinking of you sparkly - don't worry about talking about yourself - it helps knowing others understand - stay strong

    just to update you - my darling maria took a turn for the worse this afternoon so we took her to the vets - she is now over the rainbow - playing with the others - thanks again for all your support:cry:

    Oh littleredhen I'm so sorry for your loss atleast you know now that Maria isn't in anymore pain.

    thanks Steph - it was hard because my dh was not contactable so i had to take her with my dd who is only 9 - but i couldn't wait till the morning it wouldn't have been fair - it is going to be hard on my dh - i hope he is home soon

    So sorry to hear that.You had a little warning and time to say goodbye,which will help in the days to come .Give yourself time to grieve ,knowing you did all you could for her,and her last few days she was comfortable and surrounded with love.

    thank you froglet - yes we did have a weekend of lots of stroking her and hand feeding and she seemed genuinely happy so we will have that lasting memory
