failed mot????
Hi, my car just failed its mot due to inbalanced front brakes. now i wasnt convinced so i took it for a second oppinion at a well known centre, and what do you know, they tested my car and it passed, they said that it should not have failed. now while they tested the car the same as they would with an mot it wasnt actually an mot,so i still dont have a pass. i took the info to the original garage and told them that i want a new test on mondau and i expect it to pass as it seems to me they are trying to earn a fast buck? either that or i will contacy vosa.i have to take it down monday for the mot tester. what does anyone think about this,do they have a leg to stand on really? as its tested by computer not by the eye,so its not like something got missed?
any replies on this would be great
thanks in advance

Could be the second garage is wrong perhaps?0

I did consider that,as my uncle works for vosa ( he services the mot machine testing things)??ha. well he told me to ask them when thier machine was last callibrated, they said not long ago and it gets done every six mths. When i asked the original garage they said they didnt know because they dont do the mots there, they take them to another garage and get it done,so untill monday i wont know. also i went to two kwik fits and they both said the front brakes were fine, one stripped them back and tested them the other put them on the rolling machine and tested them, also they didnt charge me a penny for there time, and didnt say i needed anything done atall..0

So your now saying your car has now been through 5 different garages and you still don't have an MOT? Hmmmm!0

umm no,what im saying is i took my car to kwik fit for a free brake test after it failed the mot,he said all was fine.i then explained to him that it failed the mot on front brake imbalance, that the garage wanted to charge me £75 for an hour to put in on the diognostics? to check it. he then said that doesnt seem right if its for a brake imbalance,so he rang the other kwik fit that has the rolling machine thing and they tested it there for me,and it passed..although it was checked as tho it was for an mot,it wasnt actually a paying mot test,he just did it because they thought it was strange it needed diognostis?he then told me to go back to the original garage and show them the pass test they performed and tell them that it shouldnt have failed. where you got 5 tests from??0

report them - numbers on the back of the MOT
mine recently failed ( amongst other things ) on a boot latch movement. Locks and stays down fine but could move slightly. FAILED! Yet my mate who's a tester saw it later that night and said it would pass.
Surprised they didnt charge you for a headlight alignment too0 -
hi,well im going to see what they have to say on monday and when they hand me my passed mot, which if they have any sence they will.ha. then im going to tell them that i shall be reporting them and may even go to my local paper.. oh and ive just had a call from a friend who says that this garage is in the prosess of being taken to court for tryin to tell a customer that he needed work done for a failed mot that he didnt need!! great wish id known that first..0

blimey ok.... i took my car to a garage(where i bought the car from) unbeknown to me they dont do the mot they send it out to get it one..that makes 1? i then took it to kwik fit he checked brakes...that makes 2? i then took it to another kwik fit he put it on the machine and tested for the imbalance..that makes3??
im sorry but i asked for some advise if you have nothing constructive to say then maybe it would be best you said nothing???0 -
Advise or advice what are you looking for? Your garage (missing the BIG MOT sign) sent your car to another garage for a MOT...2 garages so far? Then you took your car to another one (2 + 1 =3), and then another 2 kwik fit type (3 + 2 = 5) ...yes?0
