On the other hand though I did a GAP petrol today. The guy was Mr I can't be a**** doing this job person. They are supposed to offer a loyalty card/ask if you have one, try and upsell you, tell you about the super duper petrol which is unique to them ( meant to last longer and give more mileage). He did nothing. No name badge. Looked as if he had been pulled through a hedge backwards. No eye contact. Nuffin. Had to ask for a receipt. Gives me loads of crumpled up notes. Decided a few miles later to check. No bloody receipt.

I stormed back in like a banshee. Asked what he did with my receipt. Another member of staff reprinted it. I humphed at him " That is why I usually go to BP " Checked when I got home and only the petrol was on the receipt.
Funny GAP phoned begging me to do some more GA's. I told the guy about it. When I told him I said "Hmmph that's why I usually go to BP" he laughed and said Gosh that really told him. But you may not get paid for your purchase. He said make sure it all goes in your report. Coudln't get the report to work as I put £10.00 and it lit up in pink saying "Enter your fuel cost"

    Not my night.

That particular type of garage is one I use regularly. Never been asked about a loyalty card, etc. And I wasn't when I did the GAP job there. Plus the toilet was disgusting. They had the cheek to refute my report, and I got a phone call about 3 weeks later. I bet they wish they'd never bothered because you can say so much more in a phone call than you can on one of their reports.
Moving onto a better place...Ciao

    Hi peeps,

Is there room for a small one? I have just started this mystery shopping lark and I love it so much already!

I work full time anyway, so have had to do weekends, but this weekend I did 3 eggs shops and a lovely restaurant. Great fun :D

I also want to say that Gyp look like an awfully unproffessional company in my opinion. I registered with them, did the phone test, but wont be doing anymore if they are going to treat their contractors like that.

Looking forward to chatting to you all xxx

Welcome to the forum and to the world of MSing. It sounds as though you have things sussed already :rotfl:Have fun and join in whenever you can :)

I've been paid through paypal for some jobs and paypal do not take anything off - you get the whole fee for the assignment.

I might be wrong and will be happy if someone can correct me but I think you get paid the whole fee but you get charged when you try to withdraw the money. You can use it to pay for other things without incurring charges but if you transfer it to your bank you get charged. Can anyone confirm or deny this? :)

I did a car showroom test drive and actually bought a new car although I'd no intention of buying one before doing the job!!

lol I did car showroom jobs last week. I built up a story round the scenario that I was going to buy a car for my daughter. By the time I was finished I had decided on the car and couldn't understand why she was being her usual angsty self when I had gone out of my way to find a car for her :rotfl:. I am becoming such an accomplished liar that I am worried about myself!!

You can withdraw money from paypal to the linked bank account without paying any fees. I think there's a ceiling on how much you can withdraw at once but it's more than the average mystery shopping company is likely to pay unless you're very good a negotiating extra fees and did hundreds of jobs at that rate. ;)

    should I shouldnlt I?

It depends on what expectations you have

is it right you pay a fee for the privilage?

You should never pay a fee - reputable companies do not charge for registration - always remember that they need you as much as you need them!

    will I make money?

It depends on what your expecations are. I make enough to keep my son at university and I am happy with that :)

My advice is - give it a try and see if it works for you :):)
  • Sigh. Burgers have just identified my car. Just replied 2 minutes ago, how long to you think it'll be before I get the sacking mail??

You probably won't in all honesty. How and when they sack is a complete mystery! I've been identified a few times and to be honest with the drive thru CCTV it wouldn't be difficult to identify a car that went through at a particular time.
