You are right. I had to really push myself at the start as I would feel nervous about saying something that would make me really obvious. I have been mystery shopping for about a year now, and alot of the time the jobs and scenarios I do are the same thing over and over or very similar.
But I am really trying to up my work at the moment, we are saving for a holiday and my youngest started pre school this week.
I realised though when doing a course recently, even though I am very self conciuos and often think I have said something wrong or stupid, no body else even notices.
Mind you I am still slightly worried as the place has some stores that are for trade and public and some store trade only, I thought our local one had gone trade only, but the mystery shopping company say not, so we will see.0 -

How do you deal with going out of your comfort zone?
I have a job tomorrow, I didn't actually see the briefing notes before I accepted it and I have to say I used to be a hairdresser. Now, right now I need a good haircut and have bad roots, I really don't feel I look like someone who used to be a hairdresser, lol. And I'm not fully sure how to pronounce the names of the products I have to enquire about.
I'm doing that one on Saturday, and I thought the same thing as soon as I put the phone down.Moving onto a better place...Ciao :wave:0 -

Anyway how essential is it that I log milage?
Essential as you need that information when you do your tax return.
As a simple example:
Suppose you find that you earned £1000 but covered 500 miles to do that.
You'd multiply 500 by 40p (official HMRC mileage allowance) which is £200. That is an allowable expense.
You take the £200 from the £1000, so you only pay tax on £800 instead of £1000.Here I go again on my own....0 -
They didn't give me all the info over the phone and I stupidly didn't ask for more info about the brief.
I was at the cash machine at the time, and the guy behind was tutting, so I wasn't listening properly. Still it's a shop I never go in, so I won't have to worry about being embarrassed to go back :rotfl:Moving onto a better place...Ciao :wave:0 -
Sometimes I feel awful doing this job. I did a travel agent today and the woman was wonderful, she put loads of work in, I came out feeling really guilty that I never had any plan to buy anything
Plus I really want to go on holiday now !
On the other hand though I did a GAP petrol today. The guy was Mr I can't be a**** doing this job person. They are supposed to offer a loyalty card/ask if you have one, try and upsell you, tell you about the super duper petrol which is unique to them ( meant to last longer and give more mileage). He did nothing. No name badge. Looked as if he had been pulled through a hedge backwards. No eye contact. Nuffin. Had to ask for a receipt. Gives me loads of crumpled up notes. Decided a few miles later to check. No bloody receipt.
I stormed back in like a banshee. Asked what he did with my receipt. Another member of staff reprinted it. I humphed at him " That is why I usually go to BP " Checked when I got home and only the petrol was on the receipt.
Funny GAP phoned begging me to do some more GA's. I told the guy about it. When I told him I said "Hmmph that's why I usually go to BP" he laughed and said Gosh that really told him. But you may not get paid for your purchase. He said make sure it all goes in your report. Coudln't get the report to work as I put £10.00 and it lit up in pink saying "Enter your fuel cost"
Not my night.:mad:0 -
