How do you all find the car jobs, i've never done one and am contemplating, are they easy enough? Any tips?
My major tip for car jobs is to choose carefully! As has been said above, some visits are less hassle than others.
An important tip is to keep a record of the false names and addresses that you have used (some garages keep records by postcode/address as well as name) and vary the details on subsequent jobs at the same dealership/group.
Also, I have (again!) exhausted just about all the dealerships within a 40-mile radius of home for the time being. I try not to return within a year, because salesmen seem to recall having seen me before. With the young guys, I suggest that perhaps they know one of my daughters. Otherwise, I invent a sister who looks just like me and who may have been in before. A couple of months ago, I had problems in two or three dealerships, even though it had been about 15 months or more since I last visited. I also had trouble when a salesman migrated from one dealership to another in the same town - he recognised me instantly! It's not as if I have three heads - I can do completely invisible on most other MS jobs!
I now mostly hold out for enhanced fee jobs because it is so difficult for me to get a good "run" of car jobs in any area within a reasonable distance of home.0 -

Just to echo the above I did some recently where I was last there 6 months ago and two were an absolute nightmare. Some of them I got different salespersons so didn't get recognised but two of them I got the same ones as last time. One refused to quote me anything not even the list price  and the other took a lot of talking to get round with my story about work making people redundant etc but miraculously bouncing back from the brink in a period of a few months and giving me a pay rise so I could afford the more expensive car :rotfl:
Definitely won't go back to those for a while!!! To be honest the "premium" brands should have a higher fee... It's much easier to be a bit of a tyre kicker over a £5k car than a £50k car and the dealers tend to be more transparent with what they will and will not knock off.0 -
I'm going to be glad when they move away from this email system. I asked for 3 jobs in a town 30 miles away, and added if they were stuck i could do two 15 miles beyond that. They gave me the two far away. Just those two. Fees won't cover petrol, let alone the fact it's an hour each way.
I hate being unreliable, but it's really not worth it. Drat! Hate these quiet months.0 -
i got the amber arch emal three days after everyone else. Can only assume another site that has their 'A' list and 'B' listI get what i want. That isn't because i'm a brat or spoilt. It's because i'm determined, i work hard for it and i achieve my goals!0

I got it as well eventually - 3 times over just for good measure.0
