Morning fellow MSE forumers,
I have been running Ubuntu 10.4 on my computer for the best part of a year, but picked up one of those computer magazines at the local market last week which had a disc with Linux Mint 7 on it.Does anyone else on here use it and is it a big improvement on Ubuntu 10.4?
Thank you for your time.
Mint is based on ubuntu. So if you like ubuntu, then give it a try.
BUT don't use that Mint 7 CD to install if you do.
That version is quite out of date now compared to the current ubuntu.
The current version of mint is version 9.
If can, then you would be better downloading the CD image for the latest version.

currently running two PC's on Linux.
Main desktop currently has Ubuntu 10.04 dual booting with XP. I often switch distro's to see whats about... have tried Mint, SuSe, Fedora, Sabyon even a stint of UbuntuStudio (and one or two others that lasted less than a couple of days) but i always seem to end up back with Ubuntu.
My Audio Server (audio source for my hifi) is currently running Ubuntu but might try the latest version of Mint on it just for a change. Have considered XBMC or similar but i really want to get it connected to my TV before i try that.
I only ever use XP for Geocaching software (but i believe a Linux alternative is immanent), printing photo's (when printing photo's colours come out all dull and washed out when printing from linux) and using Propellerhead's Reason (linux alternatives are far too awkward to get working correctly through JACK).The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits0
