When Vanquis told me that last week I had been accepted, but they just wanted to sell me some sort of PPI and a cash advance over the phone.
So you should be fine, they'll text you when they're going to call :)

i think if you applied for 2 cards at the same time, the credit companies do get suspicious about why you need to apply for them both. that's a big no no. i have no real credit history, i had an account with a catalogue with credit of £750, but i never ever used it, forgot about it, and when i applied through capital 1, i got an instant decision saying i had been accepted though when the card arrived there was only £100 limit on it :( so a lower than what i expected. However I am going to sit back with it and use it, pay it back when i use it and build my credit, and hopefully get the credit limit increased as time goes by!

Well I have a car and expensive taste (being honest).. I eat out a lot and honestly I haemorrhage ridiculously quickly and stupidly!

With a CC I could live comfortably and then take a vacation... Ear airmiles and all the other things.. And help me during the squeeze of 5 week pay months etc etc...

Which is exactly why you should learn to start saving up for things - you are already considering living on tomorrow's earnings today, which is not a good way to deal with things.

What happens if you lose your job and can't pay back your credit card - you need to learn some hard and fast rules of living within your means. Cut down on the expensive tastes (designer clothers, new mobiles, latest laptop by any chance)?

Start learning to save up for things then you can take enjoyment from them knowing they are paid for by you and not money borrowed from elsewhere. Perhaps the earlier incident should be used by you to learn from before your spending gets out of hand.

Go over and look at some of the stories on the debt free board to see where "expensive tastes" that you can't pay for up front will land you.

Did Vanquis auto accept you or did they call you up to confirm your details/upsell insurance?

They didn't auto accept.. I applied on Saturday and they called me today..

They did sell me some sort of "protection" product, which is basically charging me £1 each month the balance is over £100, allowing me, if needed, to freeze my account, without incurring any interest on the balance (apaprently).

So I took it, but it wasn't a hard sell by any means and I was told I could cancel at any time..?
  • Yeah I would defo cancel it mate when your card Arrives.

Sorry to be nosey but did they advise what your Credit Limit would be?

You genuinely worry me. You don't know what you're signing up for, seem very blase about debt and are joking about getting into a 'debt spiral'.

I hope you're joking, otherwise it would be a good idea to start taking more care and consideration about your finances.

What makes you say I should cancel?

To be honest I had a right soppy cow on the phone who was literally reading at 1000 words per minute, reeling off lines like a production line.

    She was bloody horrible.

I know you'll probably think this is stupid, but I forgot to ask about my limit!! Was a bit excited and guess I thought, anything is better than nothing and just forgot..
