We have survived another January, I'm always glad to see the back of this month but this year will hopefully be the last where we struggle;) We did okay this year and I was even left with £13.95 in the current account as pay day arrived. I managed to keep £200 in my emergency fund untouched whereas in previous years I would have had to raid this as well...so things are looking up:cool:

I've just paid the penultimate payment on my DMP, so with one left to pay we now have 25 days left to go (I'm counting down the days now:o) Another debt has finished this month, leaving 7 that will all finish in March. When I look at the amounts now, it's crazy how little we owe. The one I have finished this month started out at over £6,000 and the last payment was for £49:)

All the last 7 debts are under £50 apart from one BC (:mad:grrrrrr!) they have messed us around on this account for a long time, adding interest, stopping interest, AR markers, debt sold on etc. etc.

The next thing on my list is to keep a check on how my defaults are doing on our credit files - two have dropped off already and the rest start to go in March.

I can't imagine how my life will be after years of paying credit cards and loans in one form or another but I can't wait to find out.

    Take care all

  • Morning Ellie, I had to turn on my laptop rather than read posts on my phone to say how absolutely chuffed I am for you and your family. I love it when I hear about hard work paying off and a bit of good fortune in terms of tax returns and competition winnings recently on the forums that make me determined to carry on and get sorted.

Wishing you a fabulous few days counting down to your debt free date and humongous best wishes for the future.

    Well done! H x

I have just spent a few days reading your diary Ellie and wanted to say well done. You have managed to pay back an incredible amount and glad to see the DMP worked for you. I have to say this and I hope you don't take offence but you have managed this in spite of your OH who seems to be worse than useless and I think I would have shown him the door many years ago. Please take care of yourself and join us on savings, investments and pensions boards once you are done with the debt. Focusing on a healthy financial retirement would seem to be a good goal for you.

Thank you Hugglemonster for your good wishes,

It has been hard work and at times seemed like it would never end but now I'm almost there, I can honestly say, it has been one of the best decisions I have ever made.

You are right, these forums do make you determined to carry on and at times they have been my lifeline;)

    Take care

    Thank you Puzz,

Once upon a time, I used to have feelings of dread in the pit of my stomach constantly, wondering how I was going to keep up with all the payments to various credit cards. These feelings kept me up at nights and each day was filled with worry:eek: Those feelings are now completely different, excitement and butterflies are beginning to swirl around, it's a wonderful feeling and I can't quite believe it:D

I know you are still working your way through your debts but you are getting there and I hope I will be there to cheer you through the finish line too:)

    Take care

    Ellie x
