I have to say this and I hope you don't take offence but you have managed this in spite of your OH who seems to be worse than useless and I think I would have shown him the door many years ago. Please take care of yourself and join us on savings, investments and pensions boards once you are done with the debt. Focusing on a healthy financial retirement would seem to be a good goal for you.
Hello Enthusiasticsaver,
Thank you for your kind words.
No offence taken:) my OH is less than useless and I have known that from the start, he just runs away from any situation he can't cope with and leaves it to me. I just carry on regardless these days and don't let him get to me;)
I have been looking at some of the savings and investment boards and will definitely be joining you all in the very near future;)

Thank you for all your lovely comments, they are very much appreciated.
Debt is dominating my thoughts again now, much as it did at the start of my DMP but for very different reasons now;)
Also, I've just got off a phone call with Cr$pital 1 where I needed the balance on my account as I don't get any statements and the default has fallen off my file (although I do know more or less what I owe). I couldn't get past the security question about my telephone number as I had updated my contact details when I first went onto the DMP to a random number. What a performance, I ended up arguing with the operator, saying I just wanted to know how much I owed so I could pay the correct amount but she was having none of it because of the incorrect phone number:mad: Eventually we established I owe £27 :T (£2 less than I thought:p) I've come a long way as there was a time when I would have run a mile rather than speak to a creditor on the phone:o
BTW, it's 22 days now:rotfl:Debt Free 1st March 2017

Eeeek! I've just had a look at the Savings forum, this will be a first for me. Instead of ploughing all my money into debt repayment, I'm looking at savings:o
I will have paid all of my debts back in 6 years 8 months but in reality this will be the first time in 30 years where I won't be making payments to a credit card (I would have held 2 of my CC's for 31 years:eek::eek: - how much have I paid them in that amount of time?) I can't imagine what being debt-free is going to be like but I can't wait to find out:o
18 days to go:j:j

31 years! It will feel amazing knowing that you don't owe the cc companies even a single bean and that all your beans are your own.“Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.”
