    A long time lurker :o.

Fab news on the debt reduction Ellie :j!! There's a nice calm atmosphere to your thread and you will be there in no time. I used to think 'Ellies Eleven' was your 11 children :o !!!

Sorry to hear about OH when you mentioned a while ago all was OK. It seems a little off to have a huff with the prime mover. I know what you mean about getting spurred on when somebody annoys a little :)!!

I really look forward to hearing of your progress, Ellie. It's so motivating and really lifts my spirits to see what can be achieved with hard work and the will to make things happen:T.

Your winning post is so close now, I really envy you. I know that if I keep going like you have I'll get there too in the end:j.

I'm so sorry to hear that the situation with your DH has worsened but you seem quite upbeat in spite of that. Don't let his shortcomings get you down;).

Lovely to read your post:). What an amazing amount of debt you've cleared already, you should be very proud:T. Our outstanding debt levels are pretty similar, mine being dealt with on a StepChange DMP which seems to be working well. Good Luck to you with your self-administered DMP, it sounds as if you have things well in control despite you describing it as chaotic:beer:
  • Hi Ellie

Glad your new job is going well and you are doing amazingly with paying your debts off.

I wonder what 'crime' you have committed this time for OH to be ignoring you?

Although it is horrible to live with no doubt him ignoring you and being a right !!!! just reinforces the need for you to both go your separate ways as soon as the debt is cleared.

I keep thinking about YNAB but although I love spreadsheets I do like a book and a pen!!!
Maybe one day I will trial it.

    Hi Ellie,
Nearly at 75% paid now, the finishing line is in site you have done so well. Glad the new job is good and you had a nice break with your dd. As you know I am also currently in spain with my dd, we have abandoned cloud bathing today. Funny the dark clouds would usually effect my mood but now I am on my debtfree journey I have a different mindset and know the sun will shine again tomorrow.
As for your OH, enjoy the peace, after all if he's not talking to you he can't ask for any money...:D
    Take care of you.

  • I often wish my OH would stop talking to me, Ellie;). Would make a very pleasant change from his default grumble and criticize mode:eek:

Hi Ellie, have just been catching up on your posts, glad things are going ok.

I've found YNAB to be good because you have to set down on (electronic) paper your Budget a.k.a "spending intentions" for the month...£x or this, £Y for that, etc...and then stick to it !! :D.

It makes a liar out of you when you start to "stray" with your spending as the figures then go red and the little YNAB voice says "Hold on, you only allowed £20.00 this monh for hand-made danish pastries..." :rotfl:.

In short, I think YNAB says "You can only spend money once and don't spend money you haven't earned or got (credit). If you can heed that advice then things will be ok". Hope your new job is going ok and YNAB is good to you :).

I am completely hooked on YNAB Chris and it's already helping me make some small savings.

Job is fine so far, settling in and feeling far less stressed than I have done for a while. Some good news as well, they have offered me some out of hours, on call slots which will up my salary by approx 5k. This will make all the difference to us during the winter when OH isn't working.

This winter will hopefully be my last one on a DMP and if things work out then I'm hoping to be debt-free by the end of 2016;)

    Take care

  • September has come around so quickly and you wonder where the time is going. This is bitter/sweet for me as I don't want to wish my life away but it means my DFD is ever closer.

This month sees us at 75.28% paid back and 10k is not that far away;)

I'm using YNAB to help keep me on the straight and narrow and it's working so far. I'm tightening my belt where grocery shopping is concerned, we do cook from scratch already (it's the one thing OH does very well) but with a few extra tweaks here and there, I have shaved a few more pounds off the bill:o

Loving my new job, it's far less stressful and I'm not away from home as much so not as much worry about expenses.

Still within my clothes budget for the year and hoping to keep it that way for the remaining months.

Saving pot for Christmas is coming along nicely and as of today I have £552 saved. This has become a habit that I am proud of:cool:

I hope everyone is getting along okay and you are all keeping up with your MSE habits:D

    Take care

Glad OH has 1 redeeming quality :rotfl:

I have been sucked in to the YNAB camp - I am just in my 30 day trial at the moment - I love it. Although I made a slight error with putting all my income paid 25th and 28th August to August and not September so when I logged on the other day I was £2k+ over budget:eek:
