Spent £20.05 in Aldi so total spend for January around £81;)

Payday on Monday so we will have survived January...just!

OH has been ok on the whole, he is going to stick with tobacco even after I'm paid and this is making a noticeable difference to our bank account. He is sulking today however due to the small amount of shopping but as he hasn't contributed one penny since October 17th I am taking no notice.

    Hi Ellie,

  • Ha Ha Puzz! I think patience is my middle name at the moment. I just don't let him get to me these days and just carry on regardless... I have my goals and the determination to keep going;)

  • I have managed 12 NSD's for January so that is 2 days over my target.

No spends on clothes - I have been sorting out the wardrobes and found a pair of boots that belonged to my DD (she has not lived at home for 7 years!) Anyway, tried them on and they are nearly new so have worn them to work and they have kept my feet lovely and warm in all the snow (I would have thrown these in the bin pre-DMP!)

Managed to keep our grocery bill low for the month but will need to re-stock tomorrow.

OH smoking roll-ups and he intends to carry on doing so - massive saving!!!

Have saved £124 in the "Save for Xmas 2015" challenge (I'm a bit obsessed with this:o).

Our elderly puss has to go to the Vet tonight for his booster injection and medication for his arthritus and he seems healthly enough but we do worry when we go because of his age.

Next hurdle is to get my car through it's MOT in a couple of weeks...fingers crossed:(

    Hi Ellie,

Hope the trip to the vet's with Puss went okay?

Great news on OH sticking with roll ups, although I do still think its a bit cheeky that he smokes at all and doesn't pay for it...!!!

If you keep up your christmas saving obsession, what you don't use for christmas you can throw at your debts and get that dfd into 2016, which is only next year......

    Take Care,

  • Hi Puzz,

Our puss was fine and the vet was quite impressed with how good he looks for his age...long may it continue;)

  • I've just logged onto Noddle to check our balances and OH's score has changed to 2/5 which is ironic as he has no clue (or interest) how much we owe or whether regular payments are being made...my score remains at 1/5

Whilst I know the credit score is worthless, it does make me smile.

Totals match SC apart from our OD which is slightly out due to applied interest. I have been moving the odd few quid across to pay off the interest and to keep my DFD at early 2017 (end of 2016 is my ultimate target though).

  • Just a bit of an update on my month so far...

Managed 8 NSD'S so far so on track to reach my target for the month.

Still no spends on clothes so far this year;)

Keeping up with putting £2 a day away and have £154 so far.

OH not speaking to me as I asked if he had finished with the bucket of wallpaper paste that has been sitting in my dining room since Christmas. I admit that I was sarcastic but the response from him was over the top. Basically, he is a bully (not violent these days, too much exertion involved). It's times like this when I could quite easily just throw the towel in and walk away. Instead I try to focus on what I'm going to do when I am debt-free and no longer living half a life:o

Anyway, I've probably upset him today by waking up as he said that he hoped that I wouldn't.

    Ellie:(
  • You are doing great this month Ellie - think of all the money you are saving!!

Sorry to hear DH is being a !!!!! - what a horrible vicious thing to say to someone. I and everyone on here are glad you woke up today.

DH obviously lives by the mantra 'Attack is the best form of defence'.
Bet he is nice as pie when he needs drink or cigs.
    !!!!!!!!

He needs to remember not to bite the hand that feeds him

  • Oh Ellie, I just had to delurk and agree with eager_elephant.

You are obviously a really strong woman and he hasn't grown up yet. Sadly some never do. I know what you mean about keeping the status quo while you are getting to the point where you have the choices you want.

My DH is a good provider but has has been a better overspender and still has tantrums occasionally when I try to rein his spending in, and his sharp tongue comes out. However the other day we had a discussion about it and he admitted it has been good for him and he's glad I am doing it. I guess I just need a thicker skin - wish I'd developed it a few years ago and we could be in a very different position now. Still at least the LBM came, albeit quite late (it's never TOO late :).

Sending hugs and moral support. X
