  • Hi knitwit, I have been reading your diary with interest, its very inspirational by the way!

I am a qualified Hypnotherapist, but haven't practiced for a while - have you thought about doing group sessions? Smoking cessation is a good one and appeals to people who are scared of the idea of being 'hypnotised' as they can go with a friend, you can also charge slightly less (not too much less though!) which also appeals to people if they are a bit unsure.
Stick to groups of 4/6 people, an evening or Saturday morning are good.
You could also look at small sessions in the workplace,r sress reduction is a good one - employers also seem to like the smoking cessation as it means less fag breaks = more productive time :D

I will be reading with interest your progress and am toying with the idea of starting my own diary as a way of getting my own thoughts in order.

Wishing you the best of luck with your business;)

    pennies xx

p.s I love the same reading material as you too, have you read any Nora Roberts, I got seriously hooked when I ran out of Katie FForde!

Hi Pennies, I have not read any Nora Roberts, I will look out for her in the library, give her a test read. I have not read much of my charming man yet. I dived into S.U.M.O by Paul McGee instead. It has helped give me motivation, I have a print out of his 'faced with a challenge? 7 questions to ask yourself cartoons. I have it by my desk to keep me on track. I printed it off his website, if you want to have a look.
The questions to ask yourself are
    1 Where is this issue on a scale of 1 - 10
2 How important will this be in 6 months time
3 is my response appropriate and effective
4 how can I influence or improve the situation
5 what can I learn from this
6 what will I do differently next time
7 what can I find thats positive in this situation

I have been thinking of doing groups in the future, did you do this? I was interested in doing a weight control 6 week course with NLP included. Can i ask why you gave it up? I would love any words of hypno wisdom you have to pass on.

A lazy day for me today, washing, pottering in the garden, long lunch with my book. DH is working and no-one can come out to play, so I am free to do whatever I like, as long as I spend nothing :o. I may go wild and clean the fridge

I've just been to the library for a spend free treat. I have the pleasure of the following books
Key of valour - Nora Roberts
    Death of a witch - M.C.Beaton
Enter the dragon - Theo Paphitis

Quick tidy in the garden then curl up on the sofa with a book for me:D

I had a friend also Hypnotherapist who was very successful doing groups - I always did one to one really. I gave up as I had my own issues at the time which I thought I had dealt with but obviously had not properly, these made helping others more and more difficult, and eventually I couldn't cope with the work load and found that I was taking on board the things I was hearing (regression therapy) which led to depression and anxiety.
With the help of an excellent therapist I am now better, but should have sorted them properly beforehand, then found I wanted to try other things!
One thing that i found was popular that you could try as an add on, make your own recordings so that your clients can use them at home in between sessions, i.e. relaxation, or just if they feel they need a boost for weight loss, smoking cessation etc, you can charge for them and they can bring a nice bit of extra revenue. I know some therapists who have made a lucrative business by setting up a website with just these... from blushing, confidence, unblocking creative flow - you name it!

I havent heard of Paul Mcgee, but intend to have a look at his website! :)

p.s. Key of Valour is a good book - hope you enjoyed your fridge cleaning!!

'Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow', Melody Beattie

Welcome Wannabe01, drop by anytime. I am enjoying my diary,it heps me focus. Good luck with yours, it's nice to take time out and think things through. I will drop in, any juicy secrets to share :D

Pennies, thanks for the CD idea, I will think about how to do that. I need some background music to play. I have been using a Rieki CD but with would be illegal to sell. I find music helps with the atmosphere and covers distracting noises. I do worry about taking on theres issues and it dragging me down. I will have to learn to deal with this as I go. I think we are all drawn to this type of work because we have had to cope with our own problems in the past. I think we are all basically self centerd and drawn to what we need. It's human nature, maybe you needed to be a hypnotherapist at the time to be raedy for help. I always think it's funny how when I look back, everything came along to push me down the right road.:A

DH ill in bed today, so will be running up and down stairs. Rest of time I think I will have a me day. Maybe have a meditate, see if I can pick up on some heavenly help with my business. A potter around the garden is also needed, deadhead the roses so they flower again, and a good watering tonight.

    Happy Sunday all

I have been to Mr T for medical supplies and came back with 4 packs of finest chicken kievs reduced to £1.37 a pack. I scooped up the lot, we love them but never buy at the full price. I will have to be carefull when I have them, garlic and hypno clients don't mix.

I have cleaned the fridge, it is done, wish I had done it days ago, instead of feeling guilty at the state of it everyime I got milk for tea.

I have been sorting my cupboards loads of pasta and flour so on a mission to use these in August . I want to be more like Memory girl, meal plans well in advance so I can work out best prices and buy in bulk where needed knowing there will be no waste.

I am hoping if we have more pasta and rice based meals I can reduce the meat size and increase the veg or pulses.

I think I will have a look on the receipe board for help.
