Another thing I do to try and prevent any damp building up in our house, on days when it's dry or windy is to open the front and back windows of the house for a while and get a good draught of air going through. It's surprising how this kind of regular ventilation, even for a short time, can deduce any dampness building up and even if windows arn't wide open, just a small crack of fresh air in each room can have the same effect. Obviously you don't want to lose the heat which you've built up, but you often find that around midday, any natural heat from your early morning two hour switch-on has dissipated anyway. There's such a temptation to "keep the fug" in during winter but actually I think some regular fresh air does help to keep the indoor atmosphere much healthier and helps prevent that stuffy, sleepy feeling that can often catch up with you.

Hi yeah i do it all the time..i really can't bear the fug:eek:..makes you feel awful..i love fresh air..i have my windows open til lunch in the winter only the little one at the top but it makes such a difference..i hate feeling sleepy during daylight hours..hubby loves it and says its cosy..have my kitchen window open constantly..only a little but it works..would rather have fresh air than that fuggy air thats built up over night and it freshens the rooms..keeps damp at bay too...i close windows about midday but in the summer they stay open...

Hi gailey, you really need to stop worrying over stuff you cant change/help. If you are still feeling sickly then some of the Christmas stuff will just have to be missed this year, trust me I speak from experience, I nearly killed myself whilst pregnant one Christmas to keep doing the same stuff as every year - I collapsed and was very poorly soon after, myself and baby were lucky to make it. The doc and midwife both agreed it was because I was simply trying to keep doing every I normally would even though I was having a tough pregnancy.

Why not sit and break everything you feel you need to do into lists (I am sure everyone had a big converstaion bout lists not long ago:) ) have a weekly list of stuff for the house and a Christmas prep list and a winter prep list.
Then take each list and be honest about what stuff is absolutely essential - then break down the essentials into what you can achieve - whats left ask for help with, husband, family friends, hopefully you will be left with very little that isnt covered.
I seem to remember you are worrying about presents for Christmas and were planning HM food based pressies - is there anyway you could substitute food based for more crafty stuff that you can do whilst resting (also shouldnt smell and wont kick off your nausea) - there was a great thread last year of all Christmas crafty stuff like snowman soup etc.
Take care of yourself this year, cos Christmas will be back next year !!! :) Hugs .

Please, to all the young mums in here, please dont overdo things re not using the heating. If its wet or foggy you need heating - one room is fine, one room is enough. But if your kids come home to cold unheated house after being out in damp weather then they WILL get chesty and ill. Heat the living room only - thats fine. And maybe even just until they have a nice hot bath, then they can snuggle up with jammies/fleeces etc.
