It's STILL tough and not getting better - so how are we coping?

Hi eveyrone, been a while since i was on. Life just got in the way what with car / financial prbs and now a very very close friend of ours dying. None of us could function. So now were trying to get back on track.
The boys are back at school today, OH is back at work and this is the first day alone i've had in a week and a half.
So today i have to make more buns / cakes/scones for pack lunches, desperately sort the house out, Its a total state still.
My toms, not holding much hope for as its just not sunny enough and they all still green. ah well i at least i have green out the back instead of concrete.
Hope your all okay x0 -
((hugs)) to narabanekeater & yeay
for crickett's dad!
I'm *reasonably* green - but I could be better - I use my car for shortish journeys because I have a hip problem and can't walk too far/ fast without suffering for several days after. I try and combine journeys. We are a family of 6 and our wheelie bin was 1/2 full when I put it out today (2 weeks' worth) - and that included 'extra' rubbish from a bit of decluttering (all non recyclables) Next door are a family of 3 and their bin was overflowing - Mrs had to stand on the contents to get the lid to shut - and that's what they do most collection days.... I do, however, have 4 children and wouldn't be without them. No 3 was a total surprise (Drs thought I was having an early menopause (at 34) and would need help to conceive (I declined - 2 chldren was fine) No 4 was very much planned (military operation style!) But we can financially afford 4 children. And part of the overcrowding issue is an aging population - so we'll need taxpayers to fund state pensions.....
DS1 went back to school today, DD returns Monday and DS2 starts primary tomorrow. Roll on October when they are all in properly (DS2 is on half days until then - am one week, pm the next etc) so I can get a routine back with just DS3 around(he's just fallen asleep on my lap whilst feeding - quite sweet)
ANd I agree with Mary - supermarkets and packaging are a pet bug bear of mine - grrr!!
Has anyone seen www.myzerowaste.com ?

Morning All,
I am feeling a bit flat and demotivated this morning. The house is a bit of a mess, and I have lots to be getting on with, but I just can't shake myself.
I hate seeing the amount of packaging we are expected to put up with on our purchases. For example, the other day I bought a new multiblender / stickblender thing. In a cardboard box, with polystyrene casing around it, with a plastic bag on each individual component (six in all!!!) and one of thos horribly little twist ties on the cord. Now, if they need the polystyrene to protect the item, surely they don't need the plastic bags? Or what about the cardboard box fillers you get, much more easily recycleable and take up much less space in my wheelie bin! It drives me insane. Or apples wrapped in cling on a polystyrene tray, that is just insane! Glad I got that off my chestIt's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0 -
oh narabanekeater I'm so sorry to hear about your pup
the poor little thing
also kezlou sorry to hear of the loss of your friend, so horrible, I hope you and your family are ok
our house is just a mess right now, DH has been ill, I've been so focussed on preparing for my interview yesterday that there's ironing all over the dining room to do as well as general tidying round/hoovering etc. I've just felt so de-motivated because work is rubbish and after our recent news about our fertility issues, it just all adds up to me feeling like not doing anything at all. Can't let it get me down though and we're having an inspection by the letting agents on Monday so best put bum in gear and get things sorted, cleaned and tidied and ready for them nosing around.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member #398 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts :T

I'm on a cookathon here today. Just boiled up all my small potatoes, to eat as they are, with some salt and pepper or made into potato salad.
Steamed a huge bag of spinach to eat with potato gnocchi, garlic and cream, baked in the oven, as well as over a baked potato with a bit of cheese sauce.
Going to bake a huge marrow tomorrow, stuffed with beef mince in my homemade tomato, chilli and garlic puree.
We need to use up all the fresh veg and fruit before I buy another thing....... I tend to get too carried away when I am surrounded by whoopsies and bargains in the shops and seriously need to curb my enthusiasm for shopping..:rotfl:Felines are my favourite

Has anyone seen my mojo? I seem to have misplaced it. :rotfl:
Don't know what's up with me today, I'm having one of those days where I really should be getting on with things, but can't summon up the energy or enthusiasm. Think we'll be getting fish and chips for dinner tonight.
I have managed to get the bedding in the washing machine which is nearly finished, so I'll have to get off my bum and hang that out. It's a lovely day and ideal drying weather, so I really should put another load on, but I'll probably just sit out in the sun and watch the chickens.
Hugs to those of you who have lost pets or had bad news.0 -

I so agree with you!:rotfl: I have a small list for the supermarket and will be sending DH to the shop at the weekend, I think - he's much better at not being tempted than I am:o
I've been roasting courgettes/ peppers/ onions and tomatoes with garlic & chillli (yummy and takes up far less room!) I've made seedy flapjack, banana & date flapjack and 2 trays of cornflake sticky choc cakes. I may make some plum jam this afternoon - but might leave until tomorrow... I also have 2 carriers of apples to deal with - have no room in freezer at the mo:D Will hopefully have some room in there when I tidy and re-inventory it tomorrow:D
My nan brought me 1/2 carrier of plums and a bag of carrots from her garden todayMy mum's bringing me a handful of chillis (why she grows them, I don;t know - she doesn't use them!!) and some eggs from a chap at work - free food - lovely!!:D:D
