wonder if it was the recipe that was wrong? I know my WI book misprinted one I used a couple of weeks back.
I think it has to be D&DD, don't you? My recipe has neither baking powder or eggs to help it rise, and it certainly didn't :rotfl:

I can't remember where I got the recipe from. I usually bookmark them, but it sounded so lush, I wrote the recipe out and didn't bother to bookmark it. I do know it wasn't off the above link though. Thanks for that btw, I like the sound of No.2 as there's no faffin' about whisking egg whites, so I may give that a bash over the weekend :)

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend. Got nothing planned here. No funds and DD isn't very good again :(

Ending with a positive though, the sun has shone today, I've got a load of washing dry, and there's more sunshine on the way :D

Why is it that on the one sunny day of the week I feel crap and it takes all my energy to just hang the washing out and get something to eat. Still, at least the sheets are line drying for a change and that has to be a good thing. All around me are chores to be done and once again i have to put them off for another day or week.

Tried to have a chat with DD about her taking on more responsibility. I ended up saying the same old thing and she ended up sayng the same old thing...it gets us nowhere. I've already stopped dong her laundry. She just doesn't care about the state of her room and is bone idle. Academically she is a star, but her contribution to family life scores a big fat zero as far as i am concerned.

I cook her a main meal each day and now do as little as possible for her. If she can't be bothered to help with the running of the home when there is now just the two of us living here, then I am not going to make my life anymore difficult than it is.

P.s. she is 19 in November!

Oh jediteacher that's awful! I've had whiplash in the past and it's not funny, I felt queasy and in pain for days and it was over christmas too :( sending you big ()s and hope it gets fixed soon!

I've been thinking a bit today about how money and things today. What I don't understand is how I have saved so much money with my meal planning, or rather how I spent quite so much when I wasn't. I've never been particularly wasteful with food so where did the money go? All I can think is that we did have a few takeaways before (which I've really gone off!) and maybe more cakes because I've lost a lot of weight!! Bulk buying has definitely helped too. Never mind, it's all good.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend planned.

It sounds stupid probably, but i actually used to have the mindset that if had a weekly food budget of say £60, i actually had to spend that amount. How very bizzarre I was.

katholicos - I suppose the only thing you can say to shame your daughter is that 18 & 19 year olds are fighting for their lives and their country in Afghaistan and some of them are coming home in coffins. Doing a few household chores by comparison seems to be a pretty easy option to me.
My mother once taught me a lesson. She threatened that if I didn't clear my bedroom by a certain date, everything would be thrown out on the lawn for going in the dustbin. I couldn't believe one day when I came home and all my possessions and clothes were strewn all over the grass and it was starting to spit with rain. (I think she had timed this very deliberately to get the message across). I threw a big hissy fit but did pick them up and tidy everything away. I was much better after that because I realised that she was actually capable of delivering her threat and that she wasn't to be messed with after all.

Never thought about calpol for dogs and cats. If it's safe it's a lot cheaper than medecine from the vets. Perhaps you should post on the pets forum and save some people money.

Our vet told us years ago about calpol, benalyn and eyedrops!! I use kids as a guide and portion according to size of animal compared to DD4. It saves a fortune in vets fees and meds bills too. Our rabbit regularly gets conjunctivitus and we use the eye drops for kids, works every time, cost £2.50 ish, compared to £35 last time a vet diagnosed and gave us rabbit drops (ingredients are identical when you read the packet)

when my children's rooms got too messy and unhygenic, I used to take a black bin bag into their rooms on a Saturday morning and tell them that if they hadn't tidied up by 5pm, everything on their floors were going straight to the local tip via the dreaded black bag.

I would have done it, but I never had to do it!

A very big thank you to all the kind posters for their warm wishes about my car accident. smiley-hug002.gif
The man who went into the back of me is the father of a repair mechanic I know about (he is very good but expensive) and he will fix the car for me free of charge obviously. This will mean I do not have to go through insurance which does drag on. I have got the guys insurance details and have made an appoitment to go to my doctors just in case. I am feeling better now that I've taken the medication. Will take it easy for a few days.

On a more positive note I've come to the decision that I am too negative with my daughter. This was brought home to me when we went out with a friend of mine and her daughter. All the time she kept telling my daughter off for being too noisy, not eating properly, playing too much etc. In the end I just told her that she was my daughter and I would be the one to decide whether what she was doing was inappropriate and I would tell her off. I was really cross. My friend is like this with everyone!
I know my little girl is quite dominant and stubborn but she's not naughty and I just feel that every time she does something she's being told off.

What bad luck!:( I do hope that the little old man is insured.

You mean before she hits him over the head with a frying pan??? - We now have an O.S. precedent for such action - and a vicars wife of our acquaintance endorsing such action:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
