It's STILL tough and not getting better - so how are we coping?

()s crickett. Sometimes, I think we cope in a crisis (like the one you have had with your Dad) and then when that eases off a little, the "down" feelings hit us. A kind of aftershock. At least take a little time off this weekend and be nice to yourself, instead of spending it all doing catch up. Hope you feel brighter soon.
sammi, I sympathise with your council tax dealings. We had more or less the exact same thing once. Very frustrating. We also had a whole year, after I moved in with my now OH, where the only way the computer could deal with the CT from where I'd lived before was to send me a demand every month for £0.00 - complete with letters saying that as I hadn't paid it last month I would now have to pay it in full etc etc. Mad!Jan 2011 GC £300/£150.79 (2 adults, 2 teens, working dog, includes food/cleaning/toiletries)0 -
charlies-aunt fantastic results, wow a's in all the sciences, she's one clever gal! well done Ghislaine!
parson'swife it worked, yay, i didn't tell anyone till right at the end, when everyone was finished. everyone said it was gorgeous, till one of my friends realised what i said and went that's just weird. Nice but strange. so i'm very pleased with the results and the crab cakes were nice too. So had a full no spend day yesterday and cooked three course meal with stuff i already had in, so well chuffed with myself.
fantastic news kath, congrats to you dd!

sammy congrats to your sister (s), brill thats your grandfathers out of hospital!
I've had a summons off the council, does my nut in, especially when i know other people get orange and red letters while i get them sending me straight to court:mad:. One time i was four days late paying, i ended absolutely kicking off at them saying, i've been waiting for my bill to come for the past four months. I can't pay it without a bill. So annoying.Yet if they owe you money you wait months for it.

Don't et me wrong i've been in this situtation so please don't think i'm being condescending in any way shape or form. Apparently, if ound this oput on the DFW section, that companies are NOT allowed to call you throughout the day, during work hours or unsociable times. So i tried this with natwest/ntl/barclays and guess what its worked, now they wish to contact me its only between 5:30pm and 6pm, as i stated after 6pm its dinnertime, bath and bed. Worked so far with us. Not sure if thats any use to you, but you could try it.
As for bills still have more coming out and not enough coming in:(.
Just waiting for dough to finish so i can make some buns then straight away putting flour in the machine for some bread for tonight.
Bought some really cheap basics sausages, my OH thinks they nasty but for 29p in the fridge i wasn't going to say no. So going to have them in casserole tonight i think. If he doesn't like it, no matter.
I'll just say there form asda or tesco, that way he won't know.0 -
Feel a bit better now... though only a bit because one of my work colleagues is winding me up something fierce and I want to hit him, but apparently there are rules against that sort of thing! Shame. It would have relieved some stress.
Hubby had a grand idea. He is going to drive me to the pool tomorrow morning, I am going to do my hour or so's exercise and while I am doing that, he is going to go to the butchers and do a big old stock up. We have the room in the freezer, so we might as well. Then he is going to meet me for brunch near the pool and then we will drive home. I have also decided the housework can wait till next week, and I am going to have a crafty day tomorrow. I have lots of things I want to make for Christmas and for me as well!"A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort"Herm Albright 1876-19440 -

Woo hoo! Today is beginning to look up! Not only has the annoying git got the afternoon off, but just heard from Mum that Dad is making steady improvements each day. He is still having problems with numbers though, and that is annoying him. But he has wolfed his lunch down today, and asked for his tea to be brought into him as well (he needs to have Mum cook it all from scratch because he is allergic to most of the universe!), so that's good, but the hopsital is being annoying about when Dad can take his pills. Through years and years of trial and error, we know that he needs to take some pills before he eats, and some directly after he eats. Well, the battle axe of a nurse on his ward, won't let him take his pills when we know they will work best for him because it doesn't chime with their medicine regime. I think part of it is that Dad can't tell them clearly which ones he needs when, but he told Mum that he could remember the drawer they were in at home and he is going to try and remember which ones he takes out and when and write it down. He is going to use it as an exercise for his memory. I wish I could give him a hug from 200 miles away."A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort"Herm Albright 1876-19440

Sammy - dont want to add to your problems but once the court grants a liability order costs are attached of about £100, if memory serves me correctly. Councils do have the power to rescind a summons and in extreme circumstances will do so, surely having a baby counts as extreme? Its worth pushing to see if they will remove the summons.0
