Yes,Parkrun is the only running 'race' that I've ever done and where my 5k time is from.
I used to run just to keep fit for another sport. That's why I still run really,as running is pretty cheap. And I like it, like being outside!I think I'm way of from my PB atm though. I've recently moved as well and the new park run is bit further away so haven't done it yet. I will go there soonish though to get a base time for my run.
Good luck with your first marathon! Let us know how you get on with your training.
What's your running background? And your tri background? (yes,I'm being nosey...;))DEBT FREE OCTOBER 2012!Proud to have dealt with my debts!0 -
Ha, nothing wrong with a bit of nosyness! Oooh, 'background', this feels like a job interview
2010 races included a 10K, a half marathon, a few 5 hour endurance races and a 'coast to coast' race which included running, biking and kayaking.
2011 has been mixed. I have done a few parkruns and several 10Ks (PB 51min). I had to pull out of the planned half mara with injury. I've done 2 sprint triathlons this year (1:35 ish was best time) and more recently have been building the long runs back up as marathon preparation. I have also joined a running club which has been good for motivation and socially. I did a couple of 50 mile cycle sportives in spring which are excellent tri training.
I think that's it really! Currently running 2-3 times a week and attending BMF (british military fitness) classes. The road bike has gone away for winter but am hoping to get some mountain biking in.
How about you?0 -
Hi!
Went for a run tonight, about 42minutes. I do time my runs but when I run, I run for perceived effort. Today I took my phone with me so I could 'accurately' measure the distance as well and found out that I run about a minute/minute and a half slower than I did last year.Lots of work to be done I'm afraid....
FMOW - I started running in 2009,just 2-3 times per week for free exercise. Did my first park run in November that year and then 4 more in 2010. Haven't been this year at all! This year I haven't run regularly until I started back again. Never done any races and this year when I've had a look I think they're so expensive but might be more tempted next year.

I ran tonight too on my last stage of this interval training plan - 1 down and 2 more to go
This one increased the running speed to 180bpm - don't know if I hit this speed but I can feel the speed and strength increasing
Really enjoyed it tonight too - yeah! Happy running everyone!final unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -
I'm really enjoying my running too, wish I was just a tad quicker but I know that will come.

Another run today. I think what I've been calling easy runs haven't really been that easy, maybe more like effort level 7/8. So today I decided to go on a proper easy/slow run. First mile was slowest and then 10sec of from each mile after. Only did 3.2miles today. It's annoying to be so slow especially as I know I've been faster but it'll come, just need to be patient.DEBT FREE OCTOBER 2012!Proud to have dealt with my debts!0

Been AWOL for a while - but only from this thread and not my running. I'm following a training schedule for the Manchester Marathon, and finish week 6 on Sunday
I was having to take walk breaks on my '3 mile easy' runs, and a few people on another site were nagging me to pull down my speed as my average pace (even with walks) was still a lot faster than others doing these were clocking!!
So I've downloaded a Run Easy program from Audi0Fuel, and have been using that for almost 2 weeks now with good results. Average pace is now 10-10:15/mile (as opposed to the 9:35-9:40 I was getting!), but I'm not having to walk on many runs and am even managing to conquer hills that have defeated me in the pastHad to walk the top half of one today that I managed to run up on Monday and Thursday, but I'd done an hour with a PT this morning working on leg strength which meant I was already tired before heading out for the run.......
