At 36 you are too young to make a final decision about more kids

i completly disagree with that statement - it all comes down to the individual in question.
Im 23 i have 3 children ages 6, 18months and 6 weeks and i have asked to be sterilised. I dont want anymore children. A short while after having my eldest i was told that i wouldnt be able to have anymore children and had come to terms with that fact so you can imagine how suprised we were when DD turned up 4 and a half years later! :rotfl: I wouldnt change my girls for the world but i had come to terms with the fact that i couldnt have children i now have 3 and that is more than enough for me :) I now intend to take steps to make sure i dont have anymore.
BS i know you have said that is not an option for you and i understand that completly, i hope you find something that works for you :)

  • I've got the mirena coil (am without babies) and have found it pretty liberating as I suffered really badly with period pain before (passing out style) and now I can get on with my life. Wasn't so bothered about having it as being plastic, it didn't seem so yukky to me as the metal version. There was also the fact that I can't take the combined pill (risk of stroke as have migraines!), am allergic to nonoxyl 9 (spermicide on some condoms) and knew I couldn't work with the cap.

About the safest but many don't get on with it as it can take a few months to settle down. Have read other thread on mirena and wouldn't say it was as bad as they say. Have put on weight but think that's to do with my diet rather than anything else... However, can understand if you don't fancy a coil of any type again though.

I used the patch.....there is nowhere you don't sweat and the blasted thing falls off. The only thing that has ever worked for me is the coil, the pill made me a mad woman from hell....Hate condoms, and patches fell off.....I wouldn't trust my husband to remember....it's different when it's your body, I don't even trust myself to remember!
Oh....I'm not going to lie to you......At the end of the day, when alls said and done......do you know what I mean.........TIDY

I fell prgnant twice on the oral pill so have had the injections since DS2 was born (aswell as was recomended not to take the tablets after develping tumours in my liver believed to have been caused by the oral one) and no accidents yet.
One day I might be more organised...........

Hi all madmum of 4 here!
I was on the depo injection for about 3 years then came off it with no side effects for 18 months whilst having my dd now 3.
I went back on it as it was great having no periods and not worrying until injection was due. I am now going to have the 3 year implant put in 2 weeks time as i want something that will last longer than 12 weeks.
I found the depo great.Hope the implant is as good, but as my nurse says if you dont like it we will take it out.

Well I went to the docs today for a discussion and he seems to think the injection will suit me best. I'm not the worlds biggest fan of having injections done but I'll give it a go. Got my first one next week.

  • Suggest you google 'depo provera problems'- Read up on some of the after effects, from what i have read some doctors are no longer recommending this method.

I was on it for 3 years (apprently max should be 2 due to the risk of Osteoporosis later on in life) and no issues. However came off it 14 months ago ands its been a nightmare, monthlys all over the place lasting upto 60 days a go, Doctor just says it will settle down

If you do think you may want another sprog at some point - i wouldnt do the injection, i am still not ovulating yet after 14 months, and have read of others over 2 years to get back to normal.

Sorry to put the dampers now you have made your decision, but think you should be aware of the full implications of the dreaded depo!!
