No, one of them is his child from a previous relationship and the other 2 are mine from a previous relationship. We havn't actually got a child together at all :( I find that sad but I'm also only just getting my life back after having 2 children and starting to think about the future and going on training courses again. I wouldnt want to go back to square one with a young baby again. Or would I?

Now I KNOW he wouldnt do that. Even though I know it will be the quick and easiest option.

Hmmmm difficult one, back to the beginning then :rotfl: Try the coil again, it worked for you for 3 years ok. My first one was a disaster I got an infection, but since then (15 years) they have been ok for me :o I have to go to fpc for that as Gp apparently doesn't do 100 in a year and so doesn't get paid for any

I tried most things - I was on the pill for years, then I had the five year (?) implants in my arm, (that was yuck!) the injection and finally plumped for sterilisation. So, so glad I did ~ although it is definately a final step that must be taken after much thought.

Unfortunately, contraception is such an individual thing ~ what works for one might not work for someone else. Trial and error, I fear!

EDIT: Just read your post again and have noticed that sterilisation is not an option - ooops!

Could your partner not wear 3 condoms just to make sure an accident doesn't happen ;):D

I am on the depo injection. I am certain I don't want anymore children so I want something very reliable, which depo is. I am hoping my husband will go for the snip soon.

I think you are best going to your local family planning clinic for a chat or often GP's run family planning sessions.

I would warn you that there are alot of side effects with Depo and if you suffer, you will suffer for at least 3 months until it is out of your system.

At least with the pill you can stop taking it and get to normal pretty quickly. I would say pill at 98% plus condom at 97% is pretty effective = 2/100 x 3/100 = 6/10000 factored down to 3/5000 is pretty good odds.

At 36 you are too young to make a final decision about more kids – some women have not even started their families by that age. To even be thinking the way you are tells me that, now if you were saying “been there, done that, last thing I want is a new baby” I might be suggesting vasectomy or you having your tubes tied. It’s a personal choice - just keep your options open until you are sure.
  • The only problem I have found about going to a family planning clinic or the GP is that they always want to give you the cheapest pill, the cheapest coil all very well if you are one of the 90% or so of people who they tell you never have bad side effects. Go on askapatient.com and look at Depo-provera even those who rated it highly put on 40lbs!
