Evening all :) I've just been trawling through my old diary and last year the heating went on on Novemeber 11th. I haven't even been tempted to put it on yet, in fact the kitchen window stays open 24hrs a day still, but I seem to be the only one at work who hsan't put the heating on yet.

I'm setting the target of beating last years record, I have plenty of blankets in the cupboard if necessary, so hopefully can hold out for a few more weeks :D

Today has been a nsd, ds had a friend round after school and has been well behaved tonight ;) Dad has had another confused but more relaxed day today apparently, he's coming home tomorrow so will go round after school to see him.

Had a couple more texts from sailorman today too :D

  • Hi BB - sorry to hear about your Dad. It's a horrible, cruel, spiteful disease, not only for the sufferer, but for all those close to them as well. Something we found sometimes worked well with my Nan was to talk to her about the past - as in, long time past. She was obviously older than your Dad and we used to ask her questions about wartime etc - the part of her brain dealing with the distant past was unaffected by by the dementia and she was usually completely lucid on those sort of subjects - quite often that lead on to lucid moments in the present too. Apart from that, have a dodgy hug. :grouphug:

Well its looking good, the date is now down to August 2020, I need £695 to find for the rest of this year, hopefully some more maintenance to come in November and December, but thats only a possibility, far from a certainty, but thats an achievable amount to find with 2.5 months to find :)

A very achievable amount indeed, and I have no doubt that you will find it :T

Well, finally tonight I've managed to get on here, its been another long non-stop kinda day. After school today we went straight to a frineds to deliver a birthday present, then on to tescos then round to mum and dads. Dads home and its like he's never been away, he hardly said anything bizarre tonight, although he was very very tired.

We had tea there then came home, had baths and I'm still trying to persuade ds to get to sleep :o

Tomorrow night is my Jamie at home party and the place is an absolute bombsite :o:o I get home from work at about 3.30ish and will have to utterly blitz the place then ... it'll worry me all day at work tomorrow as it really is bad. I will probably hide stuff in my wardrobe and then sort it all out on saturday once its over with ;)

I did buy some drinks and nibbles at tesco but have a feeling I should have got more; I didn't go for wine as everyone will be driving and I dont drink it so didnt want to get stuck with it if no-one wanted it, but then I think maybe I should have some just in case  Aaagh!!!!

Oh, and in other news .... lots more texts over the last few days from sailorman, and they are getting more and more flirty, so I mentioned again about his g/f and asked what is going on there and he replied, again, with 'x'. I asked him what that was supposed to mean ... and he replied that he's not sure right now, he thinks its probably over ...

Have been thinking about you this evening - about your dad. Glad he's settled ok back home. Wish I was closer to you so I could order some Jamie stuff - the baking tray is brill - totally non stick. Oh, and I wouldn't be without the thing that chops onions (although that was from one of his competitors as I really had to think whether I wanted to spend £25 on an onion chopper) - sorry, also on F/book with issues with my son

Thankyou Dangers, I really do appreciate the support :T :T It was nice seeing him home again, he seemed so much happier even though he hardly says anything and doesnt smile much either, you can just tell :)

I've got my eye on one of those terracotta pizza dishes, I had a pizza baking tray but I've had it years and it is a bit manky now, so would be good to replace it. There are sesvral other bits I like but it will depend on how many free points I accumalate really as I can't justify it otherwise, and Lakeland do equally nie stuff but much cheaper ;):)

You're lucky in that I think you have a Lakeland store fairly close to you? Ours is at least an hours drive away (maybe that's a good thing?).
Sorry - all our 'conversations' have been about your dad. How's your mum doing? She is the one who has to deal with your dad's illness all the time.
