I have SO2 on my contract, and wanted to clarify something. Last week I received notificiation that SO2 will come to an end on 31 August 2011.
When I signed up to this tariff I was not aware that it was only for a 1 year period, I believed it was a rolling contract. Could you clarify if this is a 1 year only tariff and that it does not roll foward and will revert to the standard SO tariff (which is the same without the level of discount).
Thanks....0 -
Hi yellowplum
Saveonline 2 definitely ends on 31 August 2011 and will not roll forward after this date.
Unless you tell us otherwise, your account will automatically be placed on EnergyOnline after this date. This is our basic online product with prices the same as standard rates but with a 10 per cent discount regardless of the region you're in.
There are no tie-ins with EnergyOnline and you can change supplier/tariff at any time.
Hope this answers your question yellowplum. Give me a shout if you need any more info as happy to help.

I am also finishing my period on this product. I'm finding it really hard to work out the best thing to do with regards to switching.
I have done a price comparison, and npower sign online v23 came out top, but that is driven by a fixed annual rebate, which would rely on me still being with them until that payment date (whereas I would rather sell my house before then), and then cancelling immediately after, to not be stung by high unit charges afterwards, which would be in the high usage period of November 2012!
Marginally behind this was eon's save online 8. I guess you don't get Clubcard points with this, and I would also not be able to get £40 off simplyswitch if I end up not switching. But it could still be the right answer.
The next one's were quite a bit more expensive. Then there's also the issue of npower and eon not yet having raised their prices, making it even harder for me to know what to do.
Plus if I do decide to switch, I need to make sure it can't be completed before the 31st August, but as soon after as possible. When should I apply for this to be the case?
Anyone else in the same boat and done the hard work or can advise? I HATE having to sort out my gas and electricity supplier <grumble grumble>.

Save Online 2 does not have a cancellation rate so you will face no early termination fee. You are in a position cos Npower, Eon and EDF have not announced increases - YET!! With 3 of the Big 6 having already done so only a matter of time before they follow suit. I would look at edf Fixed Saver 2 fixed unit rate until 30-9-2012, thus delaying the pain of the imminent increase for the next 13 months0

I don't fancy a fix if early exit fees are greater than for normal online tariffs, as I would really like to sell my house in a year's time at the latest.
I have tried asking Eon if they have any special 'behind the counter' deals and they said no. If I stayed, is there any haggling I can do to get free stuff like an energy smart meter?0 -
Big increase with either the new rolling plan or save8 or elsewhere- and thats before we get teh unit price increaseAny posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0

There would sort of be an early termination fee - by not getting my 18.6% discount on my final quarter!

I phoned EON yesterday to see what they could offer & decided to swap to the Fixonline9 tariff. The unit prices are slightly less than saveonline2 but the total discount is less at 15.9% fixed until 01/03/12. I'll look for something else then, as this seems to be the best way of holding back the current round of increases for myself.0 -
Hi guys,
I am also on Save Online 2 with EON and need to decide what to do next as it ends on 31st August. Would like to stay with them as no problems and Malcolm on here has helped me at renewal over the last two years but there is a big difference in the discounts on the new offerings even with slightly better unit prices.
When i go to my account online i only get the option of Save Online 8 or Fixed Price 5. Is Fixed Online 9 available to all or not please?
Could i get it by calling in to EON? I assume from Carpetsellers post it is only available until 1st March 2012?
Really in a quandry as i think i will lose my current discount if i swap before 31st August but i am also wondering if the current products will be withdrawn before then as there must be a lot of people due to swap on that date.
Any advice would be gratefully received please.
Thanks,
Tracey0
