I would never go back to using blankets again. They used to generate so much extra fluff and dust which I simply don't have the time or patience to deal with.
We use a top and bottom sheet and a duvet. Using a top sheet ensures that the duvet, already in its own cover, stays clean for a long time. I simply wash our synthethic king size fibre duvet once a year. Before I had a bigger capacity washing machine, I used to wash it in the bath, let it drain until the worst of the liquid had drained away and then spread it out over our Hills Hoist on a sunny or windy day. Now I have a bigger capacity washing machine, I wash it in there.
We use a lightweight duvet all year round. Not sure I could go back to having the weight of blankets on me.0 -
I use a mixture of both! in summer its usually a sheet topped with a hand crocheted blanket or comforter thingy and in winter I use a summer weight duvet plus a hand crocheted blanket and maybe a comforter as well! I am going through Hot flushes at night and I need to be able to throw off layers or put them on as required (us much as five or six times a night). my bed looks a right mess in the morning! oh and I have another summer duvet in the airing cupboard which sometimes comes out if I am feeling cold!0

i had skim read the dimensions, but as i seen the 150cm i thought it would be ok (didnt notice the 132cms), as my double duvet says its 200cm x 200cm and is waaaay too big for his single bed, although i have given him it on very cold nights... think to be on the safe side, i will just be making him a blanket - not a happy prospect as i have soo many projects on the go as it ishehe

I find duvets too hot and I feel as if I have flu in the mornings so it's sheets and blankets for me.
Last year I put quilters batting into a duvet cover and tied it to make a throw. It's the best thing I've done for a long time. It was cool enough last summer and already it is warm enough now in March even with the window open with just a top sheet beneath it.
It goes into the washing machine and dryer too.
I'm going to make one for my friend who is having 'those' warm moments and is having trouble sleeping.0 -
I've recently got a down duvet. We use a flannel duvet set with it and it feels absolutely gorgeous ! The flannel set is easy to launder and I plan to stick the duvet over the washing line to air , from time to time.
I would never go back to sheets and blankets. There's the problem of laundering blankets , or getting them dry cleaned which is expensive. Many years ago, when I used to use sheets and blankets I also needed an eiderdown on the top !0 -
I find getting duvet covers on difficult so a few years ago I started using a flat sheet, with a thin duvet on top and a thinnish quilt (as in, a quilt made up of smaller pieces of fabric into a pattern) on top. So the duvet is covered top and bottom to stop it from getting dirty.
