Make sure both the router and the computer are using the same method of password encryption.

I've finally got it connected after a double check of the ip address settings from doing an ipconfig/all check on my own laptop.
Any views on the Hi-Jack this log ?

Unfortunately I haven't cured the problem "acquiring network address" is still there,IF I install a static IP address is seems to clear the fault but quickly drops out after connecting in automatic mode it still won't connect, seriously thinking of uninstalling SP3 as it was working fine before that update unless anyone has any other idea's.

    Don't bin SP3, this is just a settings/config issue.

Open a command line, and type

    netsh winsock reset catalog/

then reboot, followed by, again in cmd line,

    netsh int ip reset reset.log

reboot, then use WZC to manage your network connections (as per Donnie's post above), should then connect and pick up IP address ok.

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

    Gunjack,
I saw those in google last night and they didn't work but they didn't mention rebooting between commands,so i will give it a try later.
    Thanks

So, had the problem to do with the Intel Wireless software?

    Did she install profitmuse knowingly?

    Hi Donnie,
Not quite with you on that one 'profitmuse'?
The main problem seemed to be with getting everything running together, security, networks and the software but after a lot of head scratching and using google,I've finally got there, just out of interest the 1st set of instructions by gunjack worked but the 2nd didn't,don't know what that means in relation to the running of the laptop,as I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to computers.
