advice needed , my pc has been taken over

    Go into Safe Mode with Networking. Then download and Run SafeMSI

    Then go into Add/Remove Programs or just the Program file to see if anything is installed there.

    i logged in as administrator
    tried to connect to internet to get malwarebytes again , but wouldnt connect , perhaps because i am on wireless
    found the malwarebytes anyway by looking around in files ,and am now running full scan as administrator
    should i abort ?
    and try your next step?

    If all else fails, we are going to get you a new DVD drive. :) At £15 or so it shouldn't break the bank. Though first we should check as to why your tray is stuck.

    i have wondered that myself a few times lol
    but cant get it to open , and it is a laptop so awkward , have just lived without the benefit of it for ages

    the full scan is progressing , seems to be going quite fast ,
    my favourite food is spare ribs

    Oops...laptop. Have to think again about that DVD drive.

    Ok, laptop brand and model number.
  • CD / DVD / Even lappies [ some anyway ] have the usual hole for a paper clip insertion !

    What you need to do is to insert a straightened paper clip into a tiny hole that is located on the front of the drive, typically right next to the eject switch. Once you’ve inserted the clip, the stuck CD should be easily ejected.

    This worked for me on my Laptop. I kept pressing the eject button while trying to put another cd in the drive. Just kept knocking the stuck cd with the other. I know someone will pop up and say dont do it but it worked for me.
