advice needed , my pc has been taken over

i turn on my laptop , and no matter what file or program i try to open , i am being told unable to open due to an infection
some kind of official looking anti spyware site is the only thing i can get into , which asks me to buy there software!

i logged in as a different user and managed to perform a quick scan with malwarebyte , it found one infection and i had to re boot to remove it , but now this program has taken over everything meaning i cant even open malwarebyte again

anyone have a suggestion ? thanks
by the way i am now using my wifes laptop to connect here

Does it have a name? There are several of these scareware viruses in existence, and how you deal with it depends on which one you have.

although i expect someone more windows-y will be around shortly to advise on other options what i would suggest is this

download ubuntu and pop it on a USB stick, http://www.pendrivelinux.com/put-ubuntu-10-04-on-flash-drive-using-windows/
boot up (change boot order to check USB drives first) system into ubuntu and then back up all important files either onto dvds or a external hard drive,
once backed up go into the software centre in ubuntu and download/install clamAV ( https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Antivirus - for information)
once that is installed run the virus scan over your hard drive to hopefully find and remove the problem virus

REMEMBER TO BACK UP ALL IMPORTANT FILES AS THERE IS ALWAYS A POSSIBILITY OF THESE BEING DAMAGED WHEN TRYING TO REPAIRE A COMPUTER
    Drop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
    10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
    20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)

when i put my cursor over it it says antivir solution pro

the site i get directed to is antiviractive.com

a blue box appears with what looks like a 'dummy' scan of my system being performed also

er two probs i have with that my disc drawer is jammed , has been for some time , i cant put a disc in

also dont have a memory stick handy
i would guess that i wouldnt be able to load anything from a memory stick , as anything i try to open i get the same message that it is infected , and when clicking the yes or no box to remove or not remove the infection , i get a blue box which shows a dummy scan operating
with the words that i will have to purchase if i want the infections removed

Format, re-install Windows. It'll be such an infected install that even if you do manage to remove it all, it'll be that flakey you'll end up re-installing anyway.
