My son’s received a penalty notice from Past Due Credit who say they’ve been appointed by DVLA to recover £80 from him failing to MOT his car (he had forgotten!). Is this legitimate? I can find no record of DVLA or DVSA appointing this company as their “official debt collection agency”.
To prevent it happening in the future, show your son the wonderful idea of using the calender option on his phone or tablet, will mean he won't forget, can do the same for car insurance and tax too.0 -

If in any doubt, contact DVLA and deal directly with them, instead of the DCA.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. It will be legit, unfortunately. Whichever way he pays it, he owes £80.0

Thanks for replies up to now. The Pastdue letter says they’ve been appointed by DVLA - it’s actually the DVSA that deals with MOTs so that to me means that they’re falsely claiming an authorisation from a Government Department. Surely this can’t be legitimate?0

Hi,
We have recently received a letter stating my partners name, vehicle reg, make and model claiming we owe £80 for a debt from september. We have realised he had missed his tax payment and immediately taxed the car. We have had nothing from DVLA themselves, however this company is claiming a debt from them. We have know had 2 letters but unsure whether they are scammers?0 -

See post #64. The safe way to pay for road tax is monthly direct debit0 -
I have received a letter from this company today. Requesting payment (plus default charges) for an electricity bill- from an electricity company I have never heard of- for a previous address of mine which I left 11yrs ago. I have been onto companies house, only to find that this company(Pastdue Credit Solutions, 1 Blair Court,North Avenue,Clydebank Business Park, Glasgow, G81 2LA) DISSOLVED IN 2016. If this isn't a scam I don't know what is. I shall not be communicating with these scammers. However it is still very concerning as to how they obtained my information. I have informed companies house0

I have checked on companies house, following a letter I received myself. This company DISSOLVED IN 2016. Your son MAY need to pay £80 but NOT to this company0
