An 0800 number is actually a free call unless you call from a mobile. Still all DCAs are lying scumbags so don't speak to them on the phone.
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

I agree with above that this company (and the other similar ones) are simple bullies who will go to great lengths to extract money from you that you don't owe.

This is how it works: Reputable companies such as BT and British Gas will sell your details for a small amount of money even if you have paid your bills but their systems is not updated to reflect it or there has been some mistake along the way. They will subsequently set you account to 0 meaning no money officially owed and claim they have no awareness of your details being sold off or who that company is.

    But here is the thing:
    1) The debt collection company need to prove they have a case with dates, original bills etc. Most often they are not able to provide anything but a headline amount owed.
    2) they need to raise the claim within a reasonable timeframe (I believe claims expires after 5 years)
    3) they have no right to send out debt collectors to your house and I will be surprised if they ever do because it is illegal for a private company to do so and you should report it to the police if they try
    4) they will not pursue the case in small claims court unless they have a very convincing reason to do so (and if they have a case and it goes to court you better make absolutely sure you have your back covered - but don't be scared, if the law is on your side you should file a counterclaim for an even larger amount - and if you can find a way to top £5000 do so because then it gets expedited into proper court and they will run away)

At the moment they are writing me fortnightly to pay a British Gas bill (again without providing any details). I am assuming it is for a bill in 2005 (already way outdated anyway) that the tenants after we lived there probably didn't pay. The reason I know this is that another Scottish based company tried the same thing a couple of years ago. At that time I got my lawyer to write them a very serious letter which made them creep back down into their little rat hole.

This time I will just ignore them. They did manage to find my new address and given they are selling these claims to each other I am expecting to receive threatening letters in 20 years time!! At some point I will take them to court and demand compensation for unlawful harassment.
  • Past Due have been chasing me for the past few months regarding a debt I apparently owe from my university house that I left 5 years ago. The debt is meant to be with BskyB. I have replied to Past Due saying I would not be willing to pay anything until they can prove the debt is mine to which they responded they would pass the debt back to Sky and my account would be closed until Sky contact me directly (I am currently a paying tv/broadband/phone customer of Sky's). Sky have not contacted me but Past Due have again - what should I do??
  • Help!

Just got a letter this morning from Pastdue Credit Solutions saying that they have been appointed by CapQuest Group Ltd (Telecoms) to recover £404.42 and to make payment to them.

However it is addressed to someone who doesn't even live at my address and someone I've never heard off, and I've lived in my home for 3 years!

Any help or advise would be by appreciated, thanks
  • We received a letter today from these guys purporting to now work for HMRC collecting overdue overpaid child tax credits. After reading this forum I am somewhat concerned.

Strange thing is, we do have a supposed overpayment which HMRC wrote to us about and the exact amount is quoted on their letter. So it could be for real.

We have been trying to call HMRC for ever about it but it is impossible to get through on their lines and so we wrote to them but have not received a response to that. Instead this comes through from Past Due Credit.

They don't quote any HMRC numbers or cases but do know the amount concerned.

    Curious.
  • Just found a link to debt collectors who work on behalf of HMRC on the gov HMRC website. So it seems that it may well be genuine.

Unbelievable that HMRC can't sort out their own issues by employing enough people to manage the calls coming in and then outsource the issues to companies like this.

    Hey ho.

They are sooo overstretched, HMRC rarely reply to letters, never mind phone calls, there are a couple of threads at the moment in relation to tax credit overpayment recovery.

Another poster was advised to contact there MP, and put the complaint through them, that may get a result for you.

Any DCA collecting on behalf of HMRC can be told to "do one" , as you are dealing with them directly.

  • Hi Sourcrates,

Thanks for that. I had considered telling them to do one but tonight my wife got a text addressed to me?? which said "Please contact PDCS re an important matter by calling 0141 570 3200 quoting customer ID *******

So they appear to be chasing for HMRC but we won't be giving them anything as we have written to HMRC disputing the overpayment and they haven't responded. If they are understaffed then that isn't my problem.
  • I have had the same from this collection agency. Have not responded to them as i have written like others to HMRC regarding my overpayment of tax credits.I got no reply to my letter and then this debt collection agency asked me to call. Spent hours trying to call HMRC ...... Have started a complaint letter as i refuse to speak to pastdue when i should have had a response regarding my letter. Maybe we should send a recorded delivery letter giving HMRC 14 days to respond or shall assume debt written off!!
