i have received a few letters now from them regarding a ridiculous debt amount from a property i lived in for 6 months but the letter states between 2006-2008,all most 10 years ago.
i repeatedly asked for evidence and i do not accept responsibility but they don't want to give me it without confirming my details, and i won't.
surely this time period makes it statue barred? no money or acceptance has been made and its now effecting my family due to the suggested amount,i wouldn't mind the property they seem i owe a debt for i was only there 6 months.0 -

It will be statute barred by now yes, you should send the SB letter and let them deal with it from there on in.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Ignore them until they write a proper letter0 -
I have just received a letter from this company telling me I owed money to another company - Business Stream. I don't have an account with that company. I phoned the number on the letter and spoke to a person who told me that an advisor would ring me back - they never did!0

Don't phone them. Send a prove-it letter.
They do have your phone number so are likely to harass you.
Your tactic will be to tell them to reply to the letter, and hang up.0 -
Just wanted to let you know of my experience with this awful company. As far as I can see I seem to have now thwarted them into silence!
About two months ago I received a letter similar to the ones quoted in this thread saying I owed 40 odd quid to BT. It was addressed to my married name at my present address but concerned the address I lived at when I was married. I replied asking for details of the account and what the sum was for and letting them know I had been divorced and not lived at that address for a number of years and was therefore very suspicious that this was a scam and I would therefore have to report it. I also said I was not aware of any outstanding amount owed to BT.
Another letter came through offering a reduction in the amount owed if paid by a certain date and then a further letter appeared asking for confirmation that I had lived at the address concerned, the date I entered and vacated the property plus confirmation about my date of birth!
I replied saying I had been in touch with BT and they had assured me there was no outstanding monies due and that any accounts would now be time-barred and would, in any case, be in my ex-husband’s name as he owned the property and continued to live there for several years after we were divorced.
I ended by saying I would appreciate it if they would stop any further correspondence otherwise it would be deemed personal harassment and I would need to then contact my lawyer.
Yesterday a letter arrived saying:
‘I write in response to your recent contact. Unfortunately Past Due Credit Solutions are no longer dealing with this matter as it has been closed on our system. If you have any concerns or require further information please contact our client directly and they will be able to assist you.’
I’m really hoping that’s the end of it. I was actually very ill when the first letter appeared and could have done without the extra stress!
Just wanted to post this in case it’s of any help to anyone else.Marg0 -
That should be the end of it. They'll probably go off and chase another Margaret Skinner!0

They are quite welcome to do so!Marg0

My son’s received a penalty notice from Past Due Credit who say they’ve been appointed by DVLA to recover £80 from him failing to MOT his car (he had forgotten!). Is this legitimate? I can find no record of DVLA or DVSA appointing this company as their “official debt collection agency”.0
