Evans - what went wrong?

Evans has been (big)pants for a while now.
Everything looks the same and is rubbish quality and rather pricey.
I guess it will mainly be plus size women reading this thread so I have a question....what is with all the sleeveless and really short sleaved tops??? Is it just me that feels sick at the thought of people looking at my bingo wings?
I dont mind short sleeves but they need to be at least half way between the shoulder and elbow.
And don't get me started on those strigny ties things they seem to attach to the back of everything
I prefer Ann Harvey these days, and thats something I didn't think Id ever say at 34 :rotfl:but the stuff is well made, perhaps not the height of fashion but classic and the sale they have just had one was fantastic I got 4 or 5 things for under £30
CaroI'm NOT grumpy, I've just been in a bad mood for 20 years!:D0 -
I'm a size 16 and I really hate the vests as it shows my arms. Recently I bought a '2 in 1 top' which I love, it has a built in cardigan, but this has started to get holes in it after 3 washes
. But like a fool I want to buy some more of the same style and I will be buying one of the 'bint' tops tomorrow and another top (should be £55 in total but I have a card luckily for £10 off). I don't think I can get any '2 in 1' tops anywhere else can I?

Why would a lady buying a size 26 T shirt EVER want one with a print of some emaciated bint on the front?
Such as this grey one
or this grey one
or this grey one
or this grey one
or this greyish white (I saw it in the shop - it's not 'ivory') one
Moreover, why are they all bl**dy grey, the colour of a manky tracksuit?
And the alternatives?
Stripes
Stripes
Stripes
Stripes
[STRIKE]Stripes[/STRIKE] Oh stuff it, you get the idea - there's another 8 striped tops, all equally unflattering.
Actually, there are even striped tops with skinny women printed on them...
The alternatives seem to be manky tops of such a cheap T-shirt fabric I would expect them to be used for dishrags, particularly as the colours are all very cold and draining - puce and acidic apricot seem to spring to mind when trying to describe them.
Obviously, losing weight would solve the problem of being stuck buying the least offensive of this rubbish, but in the meantime, why can't Evans see that not everyone wants to dress like a 1980s tart?
ETA: I'm actually a 20-22 on top, but I'm using the 26 as an example for my temper tantrum!
Emaciated bint? 1980s tart? Your post makes you sound so full of spite you would probably do yourself a huge favour if you concentrated on working on whats going on inside you rather than the clothes you wear - good luck with that;).Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0 -
I agree with you, Jo. Clothes are just so unbelievably unflattering. They seem to think that by just printing some cartoonish stuff on the front makes the clothes 'edgy' and hide the fact they are simply tent-size t-shirts (in cheap materials), and thus justify charging a fortune for them. Why can't they actually taylor something that flatters the larger figure? And i too agree with the issue about sleevelessness, i shop around for clothes that hide the sins (bingo wings, belly), and highlight the assets (big boobs, hourglass curves), and Evans clothes don't seem to do that anymore...0

sorry you disagree pirate fairy, perhaps its just the branch of evans i walk past in the town I work in that seem to have the same kinds of print / fashions as other shops in the window. I know the branch in the town I live in is far more dowdy and always stocks the more 28+ sizes. I agree that some of the stuff doesn't change no matter what the seaon, but then other shops have these basics styles all year (tiered skirts, rubbish scoop neck tee shirts that always make me think I would be dressing like my mum). There are a few key fashionable pieces and the rest just stock stuff. BUt the op was quering a certain t shirt style which is EVERY shop. I am a window shopaholic and thats why I get depressed! Even more so with the sales full of 8's and a £70 of birthday vouchers to spend!!
Yes you are right OP I saw a top in peacocks and if it had been in pink it would have been lovely but it was in a dull teal and would have made anyone look wrung out.0 -

I seem to have had a really good run this year with m&s sale stuff. Its always 16/18/20s left round here, so the skinny winnies around me wondering how I can be picking up so much to take to the changing rooms.Whether we win or lose, that we played at all was a winning decision.2011 wins £12,2922012 wins ...Thank you to all who post on here!!!! :A0
