Why would a lady buying a size 26 T shirt EVER want one with a print of some emaciated bint on the front?
Such as this grey one
or this grey one
or this grey one
or this grey one
or this greyish white (I saw it in the shop - it's not 'ivory') one
Moreover, why are they all bl**dy grey, the colour of a manky tracksuit?
And the alternatives?
Stripes
Stripes
Stripes
Stripes
[STRIKE]Stripes[/STRIKE] Oh stuff it, you get the idea - there's another 8 striped tops, all equally unflattering.
Actually, there are even striped tops with skinny women printed on them...
The alternatives seem to be manky tops of such a cheap T-shirt fabric I would expect them to be used for dishrags, particularly as the colours are all very cold and draining - puce and acidic apricot seem to spring to mind when trying to describe them.
Obviously, losing weight would solve the problem of being stuck buying the least offensive of this rubbish, but in the meantime, why can't Evans see that not everyone wants to dress like a 1980s tart?
ETA: I'm actually a 20-22 on top, but I'm using the 26 as an example for my temper tantrum!Just because the women depicted on the t-shirts are not 'larger' ladies does not mean they are emaciated or skinny (or indeed bints!), do you think Evans customers would be more likely to buy them if the women looked more like themselves?
i am totally on this, i wouldn't want to buy a t shirt with a woman with 3 chins, i hate that in myself and if i saw that in a shop i would think "why am i being reminded that i am fat?" i'd rather have a top with thinner person because that is healthy and what most overweight people are envious off, and before any of you say, i'm happy being my weight and i dont want to lose weight, thats a load of bollox i have friends who are 20/25 stone and we have this conversation often which is why i say this.
evans is over priced but thanks for pointing out the last one with the bow i love it! x0 -
But why are they all so long? Surely something that doesn't hang down to your knees is more flattering?9/70lbs to lose0

I suppose it depends on whether your belly hangs down to your knees also. :rotfl:Herman - MP for all!0

I do have to admit, whilst I don't shop there, anytime I go in, the range of clothes seems very similar, and always v 80s inspired..I think if I was someone who had to shop there as a rule, I'd be fairly peeved at the lack of variety!0

thats just the current fashion just made bigger. If you went into peacocks, DP's, NEw Look etc you would see similar type t shirts with a "newspaper print" picture on the front.
Some styles don't work very well in larger sizes. but I suppose the idea is to give the larger lady current fashions.
I am a 5ft 5 size 16 and struggle still in the boob area but still have gaping underarms. most tops are too short, or too long as a top but too short as a dress. I'm afraid clothes aren't made to fit really any one but a size 10 model and are just extra inches are added all over.
Just so you know it is commn for a retiler to order so many of a certain size, if the factory don't have enough they will use the ones they have spare and just add the required label.
I went into top shop once and asked for a 16 in a top. The assistant told me size 16s are sold out within hours. Wouldn't you think that they would have enough to meet the supply and stop all the waste in the sales of size 8!0 -

I can't judge if somebody is a bint from a picture but this one really is emaciated.
I went in to Evans to get someone a gift. I thought the clothes were overpriced, the material was not very nice and the designs were not very good. In the end I made them a hamper.0 -
i have to disagree with you there meames.
every time i go to evans, the range is almost the same. regardless of the change of season.
i disagree that the fashions are mirrored into their products from other stores, not even the other arcadia group stores..they just always seem to have the same kinds of tops and colours and styles, year in year out!0 -

Evans used to have a reputation for being very dowdy....then a few years ago it (8-10ish) "upped it's game" so to speak and had some really nice stuff...over the last few years (3-4) it's really gone downhill. Clothes are designed in line with current fashion, with no consideration for the actual cut, shape, etc, so you get clothes designed for a size 10 just being made bigger to accomodate a size 18+ and this is not the way to do it!
I am a size 20/22 on top and really notice the difference between trying something on that is "fashionable" and has just been made bigger and something that has been specifically designe for larger women. As such I am changing my buying habits and buying less pieces, but of a better quality. Ann Harvey has a sale on and some of their stuff is lovely, for example.0 -
I'd love to buy a nice fitting hoody for example.. without a 'university' slogan on it, or one that reaches my knee's.. no such thing in Evans..
Shame really as they are missing a massive part of the market.
Also the jeans are designed as though you have a huge lower tummy area. So a size 18 jeans and the crotch area is too baggy and they waist is too high, so it's uncomfortable when you sit down.
I did however get a gorgeous top, it was a cardigan and white shirt in one, looked lovely, fitted great and was very flattering. It has a hole in it, and with it being the last one I really wanted it. They would only give 10% off and were very snotty about it. I did buy it as I wanted it for an interview, but £35 for a damaged top that was end of line. I think they need to look at their business.9/70lbs to lose0 -
I've only looked at the first three, but how can you tell they're emaciated from face pics? They don't look it to me. And how you can see they're bints from the pics, I don't know..... or is just that anyone slim is allowed to be called an emaciated bint if you're a plus size lady?******** Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity *******"Always be calm and polite, and have the materials to make a bomb"0
