where do I go from here? :-(

For the last year or so I've been doing my own DMP - paying my creditors £5, £10 etc every month.

I've spoken to Payplan and CCCS who won't do a DMP for me as my debts are less than £5k. They have both said do token payments of £1, but this is never going to get me anywhere?

Anyway I nipped to the shop on my way home to get a few bits and it came to £3.87, I didnt have enough cash on me so used my debit card - it rejected. To say I was mortified is an understatement.

So I came home and there are letters from 3 of my creditors demanding I make larger payments, but I just cannot afford to do this.

I am fed up to the back teeth of them and just want to curl up into a ball and cry (I do cry most nights at being skint!).

I have no shampoo, no dog food and no toilet rolls:(

Have you checked to see why your card was rejected?
Could you not go to your local CAB for help?
    Take care.

So I came home and there are letters from 3 of my creditors demanding I make larger payments, but I just cannot afford to do this.

They can ask all they like.

Actually, they have computer programmes set up to just send these letters out to everyone on an arrangment every few months. Nothing personal about it at all, just you are feeling mortified and it got to you today.

You ain't got it , they cannot have it.
I have no shampoo, no dog food and no toilet rolls

Shampoo can wait - if necessary wet your hair, lather your hands with soap and do a quick wash.

loo rolls - go back to the old method and use squares of old paper, preferably not gloss.

Dog food, more of a problem.

Go round the house and see if you have any coins in any pockets in coats and other clothes. Any vouchers you can use anywhere, points on a club card etc?

Can you get enough just to buy the dog food?
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
  • thanks RAS, I've got tuna and pasta I can give the dogs. Got tins and bags of the stuff :-) x

If you are really stuck for dog food then they can eat this (if you have it)...

One third any meat or fish at all. Two thirds rice, or you can substitute some of the rice for veg and fruit. Do not subsitute more than a half the rice for fruit and veg though. You can use anything except grapes, raisins and onions. Remember dogs eat cauliflower leaves and brocolli stems and apple cores and all those things you dont use. The meat of fish can be anything at all, if your dog is like mine then even somewhat dubious looking things will do. Also eggs can be used in place of meat or fish.

Boil the rice up, boil the veg up (you can use the same pan if you like) and serve with the meat (which you can also boil up if it looks like it needs it).

The vet had my old dog on this because he was having bad reactions to nearly every commercial food out there. Since then I have given it to my current dog in times of financial crisis. People don't think of dogs as able to eat fruit and veg but they are, and you'd be amazed how well boilled apple cores go down- even with manky mackerel! In a total crisis my poor loyal boy has survived on poridge oats and water with blackberries in because I had truly run out of everything- clearly this is not recommended in any way, but anything's better than nothing as long as it's not grapes, onions or raisins, any other fruit and veg wil sustain your dog in a true crisis.

Forgot to say- chop the fruit/veg small, they will eat things chopped up they wont touch while still leaf-shaped haha!
I refuse to be afraid of the big bad wolf, spiders, or debt collection agencies; one of them's not real and the other two are powerless without my fear.
(Ok, one of them is powerless, spiders can be nasty.)

As of the last count I have cleared
    [STRIKE]23.16%[/STRIKE] 22.49% of my debt. :(

PS just seen about the tuna pasta, rice, potatoes or oats would be a better choice than pasta as wheat isn't a good choice for a dog, but if pasta's what you've got then they would be better to have something than be hungry.

As for shampoo shower gel is as good a subsitute as you're gonna find, although go heavy with the conditioner afterwards. I have also used Fairy and soap, soap is a bit of a pig to wash out and Fairy doesn't leave your hair feeling very nice, but it's better than filthy. Over on the Old Style Money Saving board I bet they have 101 alternatives to shampoo.

Bog roll is substitutable with kitchen roll, newspaper, tissues... If that lot are out then Honey I feel for you! Because you are a nice person you wouldn't even dream of pinching a bit from work/public loos of course. 0:-)

Clearly food for you is a very high priority too, I would also like to hear you have enough, otherwise I will be saying phone the biggest or most well used Church or Mosque in your area and ask if your town/localle has a food bank. A food bank is a place where you can get free food to help you through a short term crisis. Those religions aren't ones I subscribe to- but the places of worship are highly likely to know about any food bank opperating. A phone call to the loal CAB might be worthwhile too. Some food banks have even got loo rolls too (ahhh the sweet relief)!

I just hate the situation I am in x
  • oooh and bog roll, I will 'borrow' some from work tomorrow ;-)
