Sun Holidays - Review the sites youve been to!!

Options
Im always looking for honest reviews for these holidays parks - and it seems that going through a few threads -other people are interested in info on certain sites too.

with the sun holiday promotion up and running again and booking starting later this week - thought it would be good to start a review thread.

Ive been to Haven Devoncliffs, Haven Perran Sands, Haven Littlesea, Haven Kiln Park and Woolacombe Bay holiday village with the Sun hols previously. we go with our 18month old daughter.

I would rate them as follows:

Devon Cliffs - excellent, large site, clean, quite hilly but lovely setting, had a great caravan too
Perran Sands - smaller site - less facilities, lovely surrounding area, caravan was good here, better as a base to explore the area
Littlesea - lovely site - clean, FAB caravan here, friendly staff, lots to do in the area
Kiln Park - OK camped here and had roudy neighbours - but site was ok, although staff werent as good as in other sites I found
Woolacombe bay - Lovely van, not much to do on site - but great as a base - showbar/club was quite dated, small pool, but fine for a short break.

Im off to Rockley Park in August - anyone been?
thinking of either Quay West/Devon Cliffs/or somewhere in North devon, somerset for this promotion - any advice welcome!
cheers

Haven - Combe Haven, Nice site clean & tidy, Good if you like hills lol very steep, Friendly staff, Outdoor & indoor pools, Plenty of outdoor activities for the kids, Good location with a bus stop right outside the park so you can venture out into Hastings & Rye.

Butlins - Bognor Regis - Nice clean & tidy, Helpful & friendly staff, Lovely indoor swimming pool with water slides, Alot going on for the Younger kids unfortuntly anything for the Older kids you do have to pay extra for, Eg - Go karts, Cinema, Ten pin bowling, Crazy golf, Half board food is average, Entertainment is good most nights.

Went to Whitley Bay last year. Facilities and activities were very basic, but fortunately we wanted to travel around and didnt want to stay on site. Staff were friendly and the place was clean and tidy so it did what we wanted.

Haven Hafn-y-mor, near Pwllheli was great. The only downside was that, with five kids, we like to take our own crisps and soft drinks into the entertanment complex in the evening as its just too expensive otherwise, but we were turned away if we tried it here. The activities were excellent though and we found it a good base for touring North and Mid Wales.

Otherwise, its over 10 years since I last went to any other parks so its probably not fair to rate them based on what they were then.

I've just booked up for Pontins Southport in the October half term. :j

It's not terrible! They're there to make money, not host picnics. I remember going to one in Scarborough where a family had a cool bag full of sandwiches and pies, and flasks of coffee.

It's a while since I went to any of the Sun parks, but the only two I'd go to again are Haggerston Castle and Lakeland. Much as I love Scarborough and the surrounding area, the parks there were a bit manky.

I can recommend Parkdean Ruda, very clean and well appointed caravan, clean site, new and modern clubhouse and bar and good entertainment for the children in the evening.
As we went out of season there wasn't too many things organised during the day and there were not many activities available on site.
The pool was excellent but the big bonus of this site was the close proximity to the clean beach, only a couple of minutes walk to the beach.:j

We went to Rockley Park 2 months ago. Got given a lovely, privately owned caravan overlooking Poole Harbour. It was a very well maintained park which has just undergone upgrades to the facilities.
Lots of places to go to, Weymouth, Swanage, had a walk around Poole.
We want to go again next year.

I can understand why, and see nickyhutch's point.

We were buyimg things from the shop on the site, so its not like they were missing out completely. The adults would still buy from the bar, but the kids , especially the youngest who was still just about in his pushchair preferred their own juice and pop to what was sold in the bars.

The door staff didnt exactly search the bags but it was fairly obvious what was in them. So we got round it by piling everything into the bottom of the pushchair and covering it over with coats until we got inside :D

well i beg to differ, of course they are there to make money, who doesnt know that? the crisps and juice we bought were from their own onsite shop, so not losing them any money...anyway, they make enough from the kids in the amusement arcades!!!! and these are cheap hols, for us cheapos!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: they gotta expect a few of us to slip through the net, be devils and bring our own crisps........... lol....
