Berwick haven is a must. We go twice a year as we love the place and are going next week.We book a private caravan which is right on the cliff edge and gives stunning views and provides excellent crab fishing from the tidal wall that goes out to sea. We have also done sun vouchers holidays there too and found the caravans to be really good and well maintained
Also to do, here are just a few

    Holy island
Bamburgh castle and its lovely beaches
Seahouses and of course The Farne islands boat trips
    Berwick town centre itself
    Pot-a-doodle-do for the kids
    Chain bridge honey farm
    Heatherslaw light railway
    Connundrum farm
North berwick beaches and sea bird sanctuary
A day trip to Edinburgh from Berwick train station this cost us the last time we went £24 return for a family of four.
    Birds of Beal (falconry centre)

The list is endless and we are still finding new things to do. Also not forgetting that Haven also provide entertainment day and night.

Only thing i cant guarantee is the weather, however on our last three trips we have had great weather. Paul.

Haven Hafn-y-mor, near Pwllheli was great. The only downside was that, with five kids, we like to take our own crisps and soft drinks into the entertanment complex in the evening as its just too expensive otherwise, but we were turned away if we tried it here. The activities were excellent though and we found it a good base for touring North and Mid Wales.

We hated Hafan-y-mor, The food was absolutely dire and there were 30 minute queues for food. The facilities were okay but extras were expensive. The pool was good and the area was nice. The beach that is at the bottom of the park (close to the chalets) can be a bit hit amd miss with the tide. If you take the costal path that runs along the bottom of the park heading right you get to a lovely secluded sandy beach which is perfect for little ones.

We have also been to Haven Seashore which was great, and we got a lovely van right at the entrance to the beach. Its a bit quiet and the pool was busy but we really enjoyed exploring the area. Avoid Pleasurewood Hills, but if you save up Mr T vouchers they are accepted at Banham Zoo (about half an hour away) and the Dinosaur Adventure Park (just under an hour away). We had a brilliant 5 days.

Also been to Minehead Skegness. Our chalet was basic and the food was so-so but we liked the pool and they had good entertainment. Just accross from the beach. Only real problem we had wasthat the grassy area outside the chalets attracted lots of wild geese, so lots of goose mess!

Our first Sun holiday was to Pontins Camber Sands which was a hell hole. The food was revolting and the whole place felt like a prison camp.

  • We went to Whitley Bay w/c 27 June for a week.

Very impressed with the caravan, as it was a standard but we didn't want for nothing! We only used it as a base and went to different places during the week so can't comment on entertainment, pool etc. It did seem though that there were no changing rooms for the pool as people were standing outside with their cossies on which I thought was a bit strange! I certainly wouldn't like to walk back to the van wet through!

Highly recommend the Beamish Museum if you fancy a good day out! Also Morpeth and Blyth are good places to see.

  • trecco bay, porthcawl - we love it, good entertainment, good pool (altho lifeguards a little over zealous), direct access to beach, kids clubs each day, we always upgrade our caravan
pontins brean sands - hated it, dirty, dank, unfriendly staff, just ucky, left a day early!
butlins minehead - lovely, lots to do, free indoor fairground rides for the little ones, upgraded to dinner bed and breakfast which was great

this year we are either going to Lyons Robin Hood inRhyl (recommended by my mum), Haven in Rhyl or Haven greenacres in porthmadog (recommended by my neighbour)
