Just been to Solway Holiday Village. We were upgraded for free to a really nice caravan. The park has a lot of lodges that look a bit shabby from the outside but look ok inside. It is a great place with lots to do. In Sept there was free golf on a 9 hole course , free tennis and a football pitch. The entertainment was really quite good. The staff wery nice and the caravan was super clean and new. There is a lovely farm which children 12 and below will love. Good value as we often pay to visit things like this. Lots to do round about. There are guys on door to check passes. They sold quavers wgich were quite exp -70p a bag so I might have been tempted to take my own don't think anyone would have noticed.

Sundrum Castle-nice clean site, kids joined in the football pitch all night and loved it. nice restaurant with outside seating area with small park area outside so you can sit have coffee while kids play. Swim pool was nice quite clean and a small slide which kids liked. Ayr has lots to do round about -nice beaches. Heads of Ayr farm park is fairly good value for a whole day out.

Swimming pool was very chlorined. The reviews on Trip advisor were soo bad but I just don't undertsand what these people are looking for?

I would like to book again at Easter so am interested in any Scottish or NW/NE parks?

We've been to Cala Gran last 2 years and our kids love it. As usual the bar/lounge bar are expensive, but it's clean, close to Blackpool/Fleetwood/Cleveleys and even St Annes.

Was suprised to see this year they even have a Pizza delivery service, right to the caravan door, but have the right change as the delivery guy doesn't carry any.

Usual amenities with a Haven Park, pool, miniture golf course, steam room, amusements, showbar.

All in all we have enjoyed our times there.
[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

  • Devon Cliffs - clean, great for younger children especially the entertainment, nice beach, but if you don't like large sites this might not be for you.

Butlins minehead -chalet was dirty but entertainment was brill so did not spend much time there, we are going again next week (will take our own cleaning products!!)

Just back from Lakeland and would recommend it. They have a new swimming pool, with center parcs type changing rooms (one door wet side one door dry side) very clean and nice, although was a bit deep for toddlers and no seperate toddler pool. The had the usual amusements and club but also a large bar area where you could have a drink or food without agadoo in the background. The food was ok, chain pub type food (ie like yates or wetherspoons). Drink prices were reasonable.

The caravan we got was lovely but it had no heating in the rooms hence was baltic. We complained and they didn't have any vans with heating but did give us extra covers.

Loads to do surrounding site but you will need a car as everything is a fair bit away.

Does anybody know what pontins pakefield is like, with it being a pontins i am not exactly expecting the ritz, but something positive would be nice, only booked it as it was literally the only one we could book in summer holidays through the sun, wish i hadnt bothered now, as i could have got a full week at haven Cala Gran for less than the 4 days at pakefield cost, we live and learn, next year if we cant get anything remotely like what we want with the sun, i shall just wait for the offer emails from haven/butlins to start around june time next year, have managed to extend at pakefield for an extra 3 days but only room only, so will be weird, first 3 days room only, last 4 days half board, but at least it is a full week.
Take every day as it comes!!
