Walkers rant - bags less than half full! Also, the new flavours...

Walkers p*ss me right off. Their crisp bags are on some occasions less than half full. Every time I see this I'm strongly reminded of how big businesses can p*ss all over the general public with complete impunity. How can they get away with supplying only half of the product you're purchasing? I know they like to say that the empty half is there so the crisps "remain fresh", but in my youth crisp packsets contained far more than they do today and were never not fresh when I ate them! I get the feeling crisp companies introduced this half-full slap-in-the-face quietly and sneakily and nobody has ever pulled them up on it. I wrote a letter of complaint to Walkers expressing my anger at how the Doritos bags I recently ate were less than half full. They responded with a letter and some vouchers for £2.00 off their crisps. Which was nice, but I still think the issue that they do this in the first place remains.
Has any monitoring body ever brought this issue up publically or anything like that? Has a ruling been made that Walkers can fill their bags with as little crisps as possible and pass it off by talking about freshness, or ensuring the weight on the packets is correct so they're legally in the right? It wouldn't surprise me at all to be told that Walkers are circumventing some kind of ruling and continue to get away with it.
Also, has anyone tried the new flavours they've brought out to coincide with the football? American Cheeseburger, Brazilian Salsa and Argentinian Grilled Steak. I should point out before someone else tries to that I don't purchase Walkers crisps myself; my mother enjoys them and continues to buy those big multipack bags. Anyway, the Cheeseburger flavour sounds absolutely revolting. I tried the Grilled Steak flavour and was hardly surprised to find out that they're just generic beef-flavoured crisps. I was not reminded of a grilled steak while eating them. Which makes me think of that "Cajun Squirrel" flavour they brought out a while ago. Again, they were just generic beef/chicken flavoured crisps (nothing Cajun about them) and no doubt many people were duped into buying them because they thought they'd get to see what real squirrel tastes like. Another complete cop-out by Walkers.
So is anybody else peed off by Walkers? I should add that I know the bags-half-full issue may be prevalent in more crisp companies than Walkers, but I see their crisp bags the most.

Quite passionate about this aren't you?
Do you think you're perhaps a little too passionate about how many crisps are in a bag?
Perhaps you need to lay off the crisps a little bit?
Or stop buying vast quantities of Walkers crisps if they "p*ss you off so much" and buy a different brand that isn't an example of "big business p*ssing all over the general public" rather than continuing to buy Walkers if you feel this strongly about them.shadowknightz wrote: »So is anybody else peed off by Walkers? Anyway I'll leave you to your crisps...

Hah! Already covered this in the first post. I even predicted this response.I should point out before someone else tries to that I don't purchase Walkers crisps myself; my mother enjoys them and continues to buy those big multipack bags.
Perhaps you should take the time to fully read people's posts instead of diving in head-first and being made to look like a tool with ADD?0 -
Maybe if they put more crisps in the bag they would get crushed when they are stacked in boxes or on the shelves. Why don't you email Walkers about it and see what they say.
As long as the bags are not under the weight specified there is no issue really. Maybe you'd prefer smaller, fuller bags and crushed crisps?
The price per 100g is on the labels in the shop so you can choose whether you think you are getting your monies worth and if you don't like the price don't buy them. Oh, hold on, I've just read that you don't even eat them - you get this angry when you don't even eat them or buy them? Really?0 -

Who said I didn't eat them? I said that my mother is the only person who buys them, but I still eat some of them. You seem to be getting a bit hasty. I'll supply the same advice to you as I did the previous poster; read people's posts fully before diving head in.0 -
I can't eat Walkers anymore, that Liniker chap gets on my nerves with his constant attempts to nick my half empty bag of fatty goodness :mad:0

I find it's better for my health than getting them by eating dozens of bags of crisps...

I thought you said you were going to "leave me to my crisps"? Should I take the fact that you had to come back in again for another failed pop as evidence of your deplorable willpower?
Also, who said I ate dozens of crisps? Firing out assumptions makes you look a bit desperate, I'm afraid.
Again: Tool.0 -
Dear Walkers Crisps,
Your crisps are really tasty. When will you be making a full bag?0 -
"Walkers p*ss me right off. Their crisp bags are on some occasions less than half full. Every time I see this I'm strongly reminded of how big businesses can p*ss all over the general public with complete impunity. How can they get away with supplying only half of the product you're purchasing?"
As the product is sold by weight it matters not how "full" or otherwise the bag is.
Your statement about them supplying only half the product is therefore total nonsense.
(If it is the case that you weigh all the bags to check and they are indeed only supplying half of the advertised amount then of course I apologise and suggest you take the matter up with trading standards.)0 -

Like how people look at a car crash.

No one who doesn't would post a rant like this if they didn't consume vast quantities of crisps.

Am I even getting close?
