He said a builder has been on the roof and put some silicone on the guttering to solve the problem.

He denies that the wall is even damp, he basically told my partner that the wall is not damp (when it rains its not damp - its wet through!)

Then I had a very emotinal call from my partner who is now in tears.
  • For what I can see - only scanned the thread since I posted on it last (sorry) - you need to raise the stakes. Some ideas to try (in no particular order):

    1. Get your local councillor involved. If he/she doesn't appear to be interested, in any way, get onto your council councillor and even your MP. If you want to, involve the local news - if fact mention this to any politician that get's involved. That should get a response. Your MP is a key person to approach - a quiet word from your MP to the local council is certain to create lots of activity.

    2. Photos. Lots of photo's. Photograph a ruler (12 inch) and the front page of a newspaper in each photo in order to highlight the size (literally!) of the problem and to prove when these pictures were taken. Show these to Shelter, CAB, politicians - even get a free interview with a solicitor or two. If you qualify for legal aid even better.

    3. Get a new property. Hard one I know - but if you can get the local politicians on board with you then you stand a very good chance of getting a council house.

    4. Has your GP seen the house? He/she might be able to report that living in this property is (expert opinion) having a negative impact on your health.

In essence you are shaming people and organisations to act. I know that you shouldn't have to, but you've done nothing wrong. As I posted before your contract is essentially null and void (my opinion) as the LL has clearly failed in his responsibilities. The moment you find somewhere else to live move out and stop paying the original LL - if he should take you to court he'll have a hard time explaining the photos that you've taken!

Best of luck - but as others have said, DON'T GIVE UP!!!
Never attach your ego to your position....

""He denies that the wall is even damp"" - you must name and shame this person - s/he is taking the mickey.

Please go and get help, get someone fighting your corner for you/with you - you are clearly ground down by all this - as others have said get your local councillor on to the case first of all

    good luck

  • Sorry if this has already been suggested, but have you tried ringing round local housing associations and charities? There must be someone nearby who can help you find a healthier home for your little ones :grouphug: Keep on keeping on till someone listens...
