My wife has just had a phone call from someone claiming to have her personalised ipod. They knew the model, colour, message on the back and her telephone number. They caller was a security guard from a hotel in Watford. We rang the hotel back, who confirmed the number was that of security, but my wife has the ipod here in her hand.
So this is deeply weird.
Does this sound like some kind of scam? Anyone heard of anything similar? I realise this might not be the right place to mention this, but the best I could think of!

is it the one the other fella got her, you know the chap she met at the hotel?0

Do you think the security guard fancied her and was trying to get in touch? Not sure how he would know the ipod details though, unless you left it in your room and he took a peek. There was a post on here a while ago about a charity salesgirl who got someones phone number and was pestering him for a date, so these things do happen. I would ask the hotel manager to go look at the ipod - if he can't produce it, well, you know he was up to no good.0

Is it a hotel your wife has stayed at?0

Thanks for the suggestions. We've never been there (I should have made that clear in the original message). And unless she has in fact been carrying on an affair in Watford - which I hope is unlikely, then we're at a loss to explain this.
Maybe we'll just need to put it down as one of those things!0

I would have to go and find out for sure, if it were me0

Maybe the one she had in her hands was the one she bought to cover her tracks after she realised she left it in the hotel room that she secretly spent the night in. It sounds pretty suspicious to me, how can someone know her phone number and a message engraved on the back of her iPod?
It could be entirely innocent but I'd want to get to the bottom of this.0

NO! If she meets her future self, there'll be an explosion!0

what does your wife say? is she keen to go get the other one or dismissing the idea ? i would just go get it and confront her with it if there is another one there.sounds strange to me to be honest.and how did he have her phone number? could be a random guy she gave her number to?
i had a mate who you wouldnt of thought capable of anything underhand, she was having not one but two affairs and had been for years.covered her tracks well, even i only knew about one of them.she came undone when she left her mobile in one of the guys cars.he didnt know she was married, she used the excuse her ex would flip if he thought she was seein somebody and the kids would tell him if they knew about him etc etcShine on you crazy diamond..............0
